Opinions about Eloping

Ashlyn, on May 8, 2018 at 8:30 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9
Hi! So my fiancé and I are thinking about eloping and I was just wondering if any of you chose to elope? And did you have any regrets with doing so?

FH and I are not personally eloping, but I know a lot of couples who have chosen to do so. There may be some regret initially, but most of them are extremely happy with their decision. Plus, you'll save a boat load of money.

We would really love to buy some land with a house soon so the 10k that we would spend could be put towards that... I’ve always dreamed of having a wedding but in reality it’s just extremely expensive! Especially when we are getting no help financially from family. I’m so torn!

It saves a ton of money! We've considered it. I've just been the "dream of your wedding since you were a little girl" kind of person, and both our families are really happy to celebrate with us. But I think the intimacy of an elopement is super romantic. I've seen couples elope, then have a party after too that ends up being way cheaper than a wedding reception.

Nothing wrong with eloping! I've always dreamed of a huge wedding so that's my preference, but it's definitely a more romantic setting with just the two of you. Also a huge money saver which is a plus! You could always do that and then have a big reception down the road when you are in a different financial setting. I have never met anyone who has regretted it though if that helps with your question. Smiley smile

We will be. Never was a girl who dreamed of a wedding. Besides that I have bad social anxiety and having a party doesn’t sound fun to me at all. Plus issues with his siblings. Plus I could never spend all that money on one day. I think it’s totally great for everyone else who wants a wedding but for me it’d be such a waste, so we’ll be doing a great honeymoon instead for still waaaaaay less than the cost of a wedding. Haven’t done it yet so I can’t tell you for sure about regrets but I’m sure I won’t have any!!!

Nothing wrong with it - my sister did and she had no regrets. She hates being the center of attention!!

Do what you guys want! We had a wedding in front of people as my kids are in college and I wanted them to be included in the ceremony, plus my hubby was a first time groom in his early 50's so yeah......people wanted to see THAT!! LOL!

Just keep this in mind: if you elope, THAT is your wedding. You can have a vow renewal later but that elopement is your wedding. It can be uber special, too!! Have you thought about your immediate family and dinner afterwards for like, 10 or 12 people? That would not be too costly.

I’m still considering eloping! Seems to be the cheapest option and we don’t have a huge budget! Just don’t know where yet!
