Opinions: How long are you the "bride"

ItsGoodToBeKing, on December 29, 2013 at 2:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

So I have a bride tote bag and it's beginning to be my beach bag and I was just curious how long before and/or after you're married, are you a bride??

Can't hurt my feelings, just curious.

Great question... I say until one of the straps breaks! Live it up as long as you can!

I started using it the day after xmas and I'll use it thru my mini-moon the weekend-of and until all my OOT guests leave. Then I'll break it back out in May for my official honeymoon I think.

From engagement until you are separated by death. When Adam proposed, I made him promise that in 40 years, he would still refer to me as his bride! It's a super Southern thing to do, but I love it so much. A lot of my house members will say "have you seen my bride anywhere?" I just melt a little bit!

Technically, you stop being "the bride" as soon as you are married-- then you are "the wife" Smiley tongue But who cares-- its a tote bag! Use it as long as you like (and when you're done with it, maybe PIF?)

Here, people are super stingy about the bride thing. You're only the bride the month before the wedding and then on your honeymooon (which is often later due to $&dollarSmiley winking.

the whole engagement? People would look at me funny even though I agree!

that is cute @gamecox, never heard of that!

Under Jewish law, you're a bride for a year after you are married. (A bride gets an exemption from certain of the laws regarding Yom Kippur.) So if anyone asks, tell them you're a real traditionalist, and are following Jewish law on the subject. ;-)

Thanks y'all. I sign little notes to FH as "your bride" or "the future Mrs. A" a lot. Smiley smile. Just love it!

I am with MRS_Mikec, I would use it until a strap breaks and I can't use it anymore.

I say you're technically a bride until you return from your honeymoon. But you are a bride to your husband forever so carry on!

FH has a friend from church who calls his wife his "bride" and they've been married for 30 years. It's way cute. FH told me he's going to refer to me the same way. Love it.

Keep that tote bag as long as you want. You will be your husband's bride forever, like Gamecox said.

Oh it's a bag-- rock it as long as you want but especially on your honeymoon!!

Now, if you had asked "how long can I go around making people do my bidding because I'm the bride damn it" it would be a totally different answer Smiley smile
