Opinions on rehearsal dinner

Chelsea, on April 26, 2020 at 11:10 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 13
So I was thinking across the street from my venue is my grandparents house and they have a beautiful house, backyard and sunroom. My wedding is in July so you never know in Ohio if it’ll be 90s or raining 60s but was thinking pizzas, Olive Garden salads and large pasta trays for people. Coolers full of different kinds of beer for everyone. And having cornhole, yardzee, and other fun outdoor games if it’s nice out...and having a more casual fun hangout with everyone whose important for our big day! Thinking 40 people. Would people enjoy this? I’ve been in 4 weddings but I’m more of a laid back bride rather than have a 5 star restaurant?!

My ceremony will be in my parents beautiful backyard and we are also planning on having lots of games like that. We are also renting a big tent to have the dance floor and everything under! Food will be a taco bar from the restaurant we had our first date at. Our guest list (if things settle down pandemic wise) is 40 people too! Our wedding is very vintage tropical them so a more relaxed luau party feel is what we are going for

Their house is a huge ranch with a big man cave so it works out that they will also have the room inside. I also have made a comment to them about my idea and they were so excited and welcomed the idea of having it at their house which was awesome. I just want to see if this is something the bridal party was thinking I was going cheap on them. I personally would rather have a more laid back relax safe place to have everyone to drink and eat! Plus I have 8 on each side would rather give a better gift to them than a $1200 dinner and limit drinks. I also thought about a local Mexican restaurant that has a party room. But I’m more towards the house party

Aww that would be so nice and fun! I am more of a laid back bride. I would have loved to have something like that however, my fiancé wanted the big wedding and has lots of family. I put my foot down at 250 and we are at 280. We will have to talk soon about whoses being cut. But our bridal party and parents and grandparents would be 40 so something like backyard for rehearsal would be nice for my part so I can atleast enjoy the closet people before the madness haha

OOF! That sounds like so much fun to be a guest at but I couldn't imagine managing that many people! We definitely want to keep it all really intimate but large parties are always fun too!!

That sounds lovely, but theoretically if it rains, can their house hold 40 people?

That sounds nice. I prefer laid back events like this. For mu rehearsal dinner we are going to a local park and BBQing hotdogs.

Thank you! We are having bbq at the wedding as well but my family LOVES it so they get it twice lol. We are doing chicken and pork at the wedding not hotdogs so it wont be totally the same.
