Ordering a dress from overseas

My dress is technically from overseas, but not at a discount. My designer makes the dresses in Italy.

I did order my faux furs from China, but they were not discounted. They turned out GORGEOUS!!

Are you talking about the discounted dresses from China and such places? If it sounds to good to be true it is. They typically use a stock designer dress photo and send low quality materials and aweful work.

I got a beautiful dress from China, but I can't wear it. They didn't tailor it right for the measurements I gave them, and I'm very large busted and it just doesn't have any support so the front bodice creases. IF you don't need custom measurements and can get proper support from a longline bra, you might be able to get away with it.

Here's a link for an old forum. I was looking into dhgate.com to buy a knock off Maggie Sottero and was looking for reviews. This girl shared her experience and posted pictures. Dhgate messed up the dress she ordered, I wasn't surprised they had several bad reviews online. She then went through dressilyme.com and loved the dress she got. I even found my Maggie Sottero knock off on dressilyme. I have bought prom dresses In the past overseas, tidebuy.com and I love them. My only recommendation with tidebuy is to get the dress as shown in the picture. It wasn't the end of the world but I had a dress with white flowers and a pink belt picked out. I changed the belt to silver and they changed flowers to grey. I wasn't crazy about the flowers changing but it was still beautiful and only $150 versus the normal $400+ prom dresses.

I bought a wedding dress from China for a costume. I didn't really care too much about quality since it was a costume piece really. The seams were poorly done and the beading was falling off in places. For the price ($150 range) it was good, fit well and good fabric. But as it was a costume like I said I wasn't that picky. For a wedding, I would never wear it, there's too many small details that bothered me.

My friend bought her dress from overseas and end up spending more on alternations than the dress. The beadwork was awful, it wasn't even close to her measurements. The seamstress who altered it did serious magic!

One of my coworkers bought her wedding dress from dressilyme. It was absolutely beautiful! Her cousin also ended up ordering since the quality was so great. They seem like they do a really nice job!

I've seen some on Etsy in China that I thought were BEAUTIFUL! But yeah I'm leery... Plus I'm so picky that I would have to try it on first.

I purchased mine from an etsy shop in the UK. It is exactly what I wanted, and it fits perfectly. I guess it was a bit of a gamble, but the shop had great reviews. I was reasonably confident that the dressmaker practiced excellent craftsmanship. I am also very happy I purchased it when I did: about a month ago the whole shop got flooded. They are salvaging what they can and will be selling things soon again, hopefully. I am very happy I received my dress before the floods!

It all depends. I had my BM dresses made by someone from Etsy who lived in The Netherlands. If your looking at dresses from China, you take a very big risk. They're making cheap knock offs of designer dresses.

I ordered my dress from AliExpress back in October for only $89. I got it in 6 days and it is beautiful. I will need to alter it a bit, but only because I've lost weight since then.

Ordered my dress at Ali Express. I admit I was nervous but everything went smoothly. It came within 2 weeks of me ordering. I preferred it way in advance. I ordered it 2 sizes bigger just to be on the safe side. I could have went down 1 size. Still big, but that is ok, I will have it altered to fit my curves. I paid way less that what the bridal stores here in Dallas charge. The dress is beautiful! I love it.
