Ordering wedding bands too early?

MzRosaLu, on July 14, 2015 at 3:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

Is there such a thing as too early? There is a wedding band I absolutely love and have been gawking at for months. There is a sale going on at the store this weekend that would save me a good amount of money. However, is it silly to order my ring a year ahead of time? I'm afraid I'll just want to wear it all the time. Lol. How soon before the wedding did you order your rings?

We bought ours last year during a Black Friday sale and saved a bundle.

I try mine on from time-to-time, but otherwise I keep it locked in our safe. It's not too early, especially if you are saving some money. Smiley smile

I think I waited too late but I ended up catching a sale about 2 months ago

I don't think there's a timeline for buying the bands. I think you're fine. My ring was my great aunt's and came with a matching band set. For FH's band, I took him in April to pick one out. We had been looking for a while, but I had some money and wanted to get him exactly what he wanted.

If you're sure it's the 'one,' i say go for it!

I slip mine on once in a while too, but i'll wait till the deed is done before i wear it.

I got mine waaay early too...just a couple of weeks after we got engaged at the beginning of December. FH earned "reward" $$ at the store where he purchased my e-ring, but it was going to expire at the end of December so I figured we may as well go look and see what we could find if we were going to be able to get $500 off! I found one I loved that went perfect with my e-ring so we bought it. FH has it hidden because he knows I'd want to put it on all the time too Smiley smile (he's right!)

ETA: on the flip side, we have not purchased his yet though...looked a few times, but haven't decided on one yet.

FH bought mine when he bought the engagement ring as a matching set. I tucked it in a safe so I don't feel the urge to wear it all the time Smiley smile

We'll be engaged for just under a year, so it would be about the same amount of time for you.

We bought FH's band right after Christmas (10 months in advance)- the owner decided to have a huge sale, so we got his ring for a steal!

Oh, and let me just say this....we paid for both bands what we had budgeted just for mine alone. So again, loved saving $. Smiley smile

If you order it early (and if it's on sale, might as well), don't continue to look at wedding bands so you won't be potentially tempted to change your mind. Same as buying your wedding dress. Smiley smile

FH bought mine when he bought my engagement ring a year and a half ago, they are a matching set. We were in the jewelry store getting my ring cleaned and they had another matching band on clearance, like 75% off or something ridiculously cheap, so he bought me another band, but I don't get that one until our first anniversary. lol

We got ours during Christmas and it was a pretty rash decision so we spent a lot. I absolutely love my band but I kind of wish I would have looked around more to get something that matched my e-ring better. If you love it and can get a good price then I don't think it's ever too early.

We got ours the October before the wedding. We loved them...plus mine was a preowned that was perfect (so it was essentially one of a kind). Also, that's one less thing you have to do...and when you're playing all your vendors at once next year, it'll be one less thing to pay for.

We've had our wedding bands for over a year. FH got a discount towards to rings when he bought my e-ring

I got mine a few weeks after engagement (still over a year away from the wedding). I fell in love with a ring from Zales, and then one day I checked and it wasn't listed on the website anymore. FH and I rushed to the store and bought it right then because I was worried that they weren't going to sell that design anymore.

I don't think there is a thing as too early. I believe my wedding band was bought when my engagement ring was bought (due to the shape of my engagement ring (the diamonds), my wedding band had to have a specific shape in order to fit nicely together). I know my fiance bought the ring in March 2014 but had already been making payments on it since probably around January 2015.

We ended up buying his ring around 4-5 months after being engaged (August/September 2014).

We aren't getting married until February 2016. So I really don't think there is a timeline for wedding bands.

**Note: We do have his wedding band in our apartment, but my wedding band is in the store (they are holding it). The jeweler suggested we leave the wedding band, so when it comes time that I need it, they can size it to my engagement ring size (and get my engagement ring redipped (it's white gold) and resized if necessary). The jeweler told us that sizes of fingers change with weather and foods that are eaten (as well as any weight change). They said "get used to your engagement ring size and then we can go up/down with both rings, once you need the wedding band".

ETA: We ended up getting his ring for free because when he bought my ring the store was running a promotion.. (I think it was like a 10% credit to the store (of your total cost during the diamond event)).

We ordered mine last month because I found one I loved and it was on sale. If you love it, get it.

I don't think so! I bought mine in November during a holiday sale and just kept it in my nightstand drawer all these months.
