Organizing Escort/Place Cards

Sara, on November 24, 2015 at 1:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 2

I’m curious what the WW opinion is on this one. I’m putting my escort cards together, and I’m including couples on one card. The cards need to be alphabetized, and I’m not sure how to handle unmarried couples. My assumption is that you go by the man’s last name (the feminist in me cringes a bit but whatever). However, what about when it’s two men? Do I pick whichever comes first alphabetically?

I also feel a little weird when the woman is the person I am close with (or is family) and is bringing a male date, but then I alphabetize them under his name. I know it’s old fashioned but I feel like that’s how people will expect to be listed.

Am I over thinking this? Wedding brain!!! Ahhrg!!

For unmarried couples we put the name of the person that was our family/friends first, whether they were male or female.

For example my cousin and her bf were "Ms. Amanda R... and Mr. Sean H..." even though his last name was first in the alphabet. I don't know if that's how you are supposed to but we wanted our guest to be first no matter what, not the plus one. It worked for us.

Haha I would have totally stressed over this as well. I did individual cards because of meal choices. In your case I would put the male first because that's how you would address and invitation. For male couples, I would go by whoever's name comes alphabetically first.
