Our dream wedding ceremony has a water fountain in it...How to do it?!

Anita222, on April 19, 2015 at 9:07 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

This may seem a little odd...my fiancee and I both LOVE water fountains and we were really hoping we could do our ceremony in front of a fountain (as opposed to an archway for example)...we even have a little "ritual" in mind to do during the ceremony but as luck would have it no venues with this "feature" in our area.

Has anyone ever heard of "fake" fountains (water getting powered by a battery operated pump for example)? Is it worth looking into this? Any suggestions/ideas are very welcome.

Mind you, we're not thinking of a tiny little fountain, we are hoping to have one of those tiered ones that is at least 4 ft high. Are we asking for too much here? :-P

I have not seen this, but it's possible that an event rental company might have them. The rental company that we talked to for wedding chairs, tables, etc had tons of random items there. So, maybe check around with the ones around there and maybe you'll get lucky!

Just make sure wherever you do the ceremony will let you have one if you do find one since I could imagine that being an uncommon request.

I know there is a place in Tampa that rents decor and has one. So, they definitely exist! 3 tiered, 4 ft, white garden fountain. The picture kind of sucks because it is of it being inside and decorated, but you get the gist:

    Edited for more info.

I would look at event companies also, or think outside the box with venues. I know some fancy hotels have nice fountains inside but not sure about outside. Do you have a local botanical garden type place? I am in st. louis and there are several places I could think of that would have fountains you might be able to utilize somehow. Definitely for pictures.

Susan is right about the botanical garden! We were looking at one as our initial venue site and it had a great fountain. If we would have had the wedding there we were going to use the fountain as the backdrop.

You could post on Facebook for help from friends and family who live close to you also.

Don't know anything about renting the fountain but I would suggest once you do, to test it for how loud the water runs. We toured a venue that had a fountain and the water was pretty loud. They said they could turn it off during the ceremony but then...what's the point right? We didn't end up going with that venue.

I officiated a wedding that had an indoor waterfall/waterwall. It was so noisy that it had to be turned off for the ceremony.

As Nilou said, check the noise level.

I remember last summer seeing one at Walmart! It looked nice too, it was in the garden centre section.

Also try hardware stores that have garden sections!

It's easy to make one, my FMIL does them all the time in her yard. She buys a pump with hose, constructs her fountain and she's good to go. Look into landscaping ideas on pinterest.
