Out of state fiance?

I'm in Ohio and FH is in Iowa. Even after we are married he will be spending every other month back in Iowa.

Hmmmmm well I'm in Cali and FH is in Mass... so we are over 3000 miles apart. We do get to see each other about every 3 or 4 mos. He usually comes here as it is less expensive for him cuz he stays here with me. If I were to fly to visit him then there would be the hotel cost. Hell sometimes we get his round trip ticket to fly coast to coast for $10 - yes that's right TEN bucks. Soooooo it's totally worth it then!!!!!!!

You're definitely not alone. My FH is five hours away, and we can't stay apart, so we see each other every weekend. He drives a truck, though, so he really burns up the gas coming to see me. Hopefully he'll find a job here soon and we can be in the same place. I truly applaud all you folks who do the mega-long-distance thing. I couldn't do it. Best wishes to all of you!

FH and I have been doing a long distance thing for about 6 years now. It hasn't been different states, but 200 miles apart. Depending on my work schedule and his work, we only see each other about every 4-5 weeks. It isn't great, but every time that I think about how it sucks, I think of the couples that have it worse than we do (like military couples). It gives me perspective. Plus, I am happy that we had this experience because it has made us closer and forced us to learn to communicate. It sucks worse when you think about how much it sucks.

I'm in Virginia and he's in Georgia. I moved to VA right before we got fro a new job engaged up until then we were in the town. After the wedding we will still be apart due to me waiting to get transferred back to GA soon.

Wow. The thread makes me feel better. lol. I'm in CA and he's in NV.

I'm in WI and he's in ME and we've been long distance for over a year, but one more year and we'll be living together again! The time difference does make it more tricky when you're on opposite sides of the country (I was in AZ for a while when he was in ME). Glad to hear that we're not alone in this struggle!

Haven't read all the posts, and I know there have been international couples... FH and I were international last fall. We've been out of state, as well. Now, we're in state... but it's still a few hour road trip to see him. You're not alone!

For planning: we plan a couple of months in advance about when we'll visit and what wedding stuff we'll do. We kind of delegate different research jobs (he's in the city we're getting married in, so he's doing caterer research... I am researching our rent/buy options for decor, etc.) It can be tough but if you only do wedding stuff together, it gets miserable. When we do a weekend of wedding stuff, we throw each other date nights after and put the wedding talk out of our minds...

Mine is in Croatia, he should be here in about another month. We've done the LD thing our whole relationship and I'm really looking forward to him being here full time. Thank goodness for Skype. The planning has been hard sometimes and I get sad because I feel like we're missing some of the fun parts together like cake tastings and registering for stuff. We did try to do that together though and I'm sure every person in Crate and Barrel thought I was nuts carrying my cell phone reading sku numbers to him so he could look up stuff on his computer.

He is in the very Northern tip of CA, right off the ocean. And I am in central TX

While it hurts, and I know it's hard, the fact that we have such a history keeps me holding firm. If you want you can take a look at our Wedding Website, not a lot is filled in except His and Mine stories, but it might make you feel better. Also, on the really hard nights I have a playlist put together on YouTube with some great long distance songs.

We meet for the first time in 20yrs next month... I CAN'T wait!!!! He wouldn't propose on the phone, or in messenger because he wanted to do it right. So not only am I waiting to see *him*, I am waiting for our perfect moment, that ties everything together. After July, in which he'll only be here for a week, I won't see him until October for another week. And then not again till Feb or so when one of us *FINALLY* moves!!

@CHRISTINA- yes we are paying for our trips. This trip next month has been covered already- tickets run about $450, then the hotel for a week, my engagement ring, and then we still have to cover food. We're getting ready to cover the next "leg" which is my trup to him, that'll be about $350, plus rental, and a hotel for a couple of nights. I thought we'd wait till after this trip to start the next but apprently he's anxious... LOL

*Then* we start saving for the wedding- 1st will be my dress, and stuff, and the move. Then after the move, we'll take what savings we have left and lock down whatever we can that we haven't covered already. Anything we save after that point will be put toward the wedding. I'd LOVE to get married sooner, but we don't want to part after the "I do's". And with a trip here, a trip there, holidays for our kids, a 1/2 cross country move AND a wedding, I just don't see how

DS and I were in a LDR until a couple months after the wedding. He lived in Houston TX and I lived in Tucson AZ so about 1000 miles apart. I moved to Houston a couple months after the wedding so we are together now! =)

My FH and I are both military. He's army and I am air force. I am stationed in northern CA and he is stationed in southern AZ. We met online and he's been here 4 times and I am set to see him next weekend. I JUST got a new job so I can't even request for leave just yet. I want to save up days for our honeymoon. We will see each other next weekend, 4th of July weekend, our wedding day and honeymoon week and then i wont see him until end of october OR decemeber depending on school and gettin out of my lease. we skype every night, call and text throughout the day, send each other things in the mail and really make an effort to stay focused on the rour relationship. I will say that planning our wedding has been difficult because hes not here to see the things i do in preparation of our wedding. After we marry, i will be moving to AZ with him then we are both going to his next post which is in Korea for a year. These next 6 months are going to be hard but it could be worse...

He's in Louisiana and I'm in Arkansas. It's about 4 hours away. We see each other pretty much every weekend.

I'll be the same way as you in a few weeks time, I'm moving to Arizona and he will be staying in Alaska till the fall...

We've been in such situation for more than one year with only seeing each other once a month . finally, i can't suffer this distance and went to his city. Now we're together and things turn better than before......

Anyway, i think our love is more important than my job.

FH is in the Navy so we have almost always been continents apart. Now he is on shore duty so we bought a place. He is retiring in 2 years so we will never have to be apart again. It is all worth it in the end ladies!

I'm in Chicago and he's in New Orleans. Just got engaged but have been long distance for the whole relationship (3 months, quick I know). It's already killing me being long distance and away from each other but I don't know how much longer I can take. He's very good about coming here to see me though.
