Out of state hair and makeup trial?

I am getting married on 10/10/20 in VA and I currently live in maryland. Where we are getting married is about a 3 hour drive from where I live. I am wondering, when would be a good time to do hair and makeup trials? Should I look for someone near the venue or find someone here and have them travel? I'd rather not pay for an extra travel expense, so I'm thinking of finding someone in VA. Also, how soon before the wedding should I go for my hair and makeup trial?

    I would look for someone near the venue. It’s worth it to make the trip for your trial. I did my trial 8 months out because that’s the only time I could travel.

    I agree with PP, book a HMUA near the venue / where you plan to stay the night before your wedding; most HMUAs charge the standard government rate of $0.55/mile round trip for travel (minimum). Then schedule a trial maybe during the same time you're in VA doing other vendor meetings like the tasting or the venue walk through.

    I would look for someone near the venue! We're getting married an hour and a half away from where we live. My HMUA is about 20 minutes away from the venue so I'm not having to pay a travel fee because the venue is within 20 miles from the salon. I'm traveling a month before our wedding down there to do my hair & makeup trial.

    Mine is in Vegas I'm in Texas. I happen to be going out there for a birthday party so I'm having them do my makeup then. She also mentioned if I was going to come to Vegas early for my wedding they could do it a few days before and make any changes before the wedding. That is cutting it close. But that's also an option.
