Out of State Officiant

Katlyn, on October 15, 2020 at 10:52 PM Posted in South Carolina Planning 0 4
We chose an all inclusive package with the venue where we are getting married but I am thinking about asking my brother to be the officiant rather than the preacher/officiant that the venue has in their package. Does anyone know if this is possible and how troublesome it would be for someone who is not a SC resident to become our officiant and it be in compliance with all local and state laws?

Hi Katlyn! Online ordinations are valid for South Carolina weddings, so your brother can complete an ordination program online through a number of different organizations. ULC is a popular one!

To triple check any local requirements you should contact the county clerk in the county where you'll be getting married!

Thank you for the information and advice. Would you happen to know the cost to do this?

I'd check out their website for all of that information, but I'm pretty sure it's less than $50!
