Out of Town Guests Swag Bags?

Jenny, on January 27, 2021 at 5:51 PM Posted in Parties and Events 2 16

Hello Brides to Be,

I've been absent from planning for about three months (I've been in a covid depression). I'm working my way back with smaller wedding tasks.

I'm having (HOPEFULLY) about 10-12 people traveling for my wedding.

I'm looking for creative and unique 'Welcome Gift Box/Bag" ideas to present to them when they check in to their hotel. Besides the usual contents of snacks, water and the weekend itinerary, what other items have you seen?

I don't want it to look like a hangover kit. Want something a little elegant.

In addition to the usual stuff you mentioned, I placed a personal mini-sanitation pack in each bag that included a mini hand sanitizer, travel size Lysol, a regular mask, a N95 mask, and a mask guard in a mesh bag. May not necessarily be elegant, but definitely well received and appreciated given the current circumstances.

We are adding snacks produced by local companies in our city (cookies, nuts, etc), a disposable rain poncho (just in case since the wedding will be outside), a $5 Starbucks gift card (there is one in the hotel), and a single-wick "You're the One" candle from Bath & Body Works. Plus all the traditional water/snacks.

I like the Starbucks idea! I think there's a Starbuck at my hotel too!

Love the poncho and candle ideas too - very personalized. Thank you!!

I like your idea so much ....can’t find travel size Lysol. Where did you get them? Did you buy online or in person?

Aww! Thank you. I bought them in person at various Walmarts (in the travel/trial section) and Home Depots (in the cleaning sections) where I live. I would go into the stores first thing in the morning and swipe what they had. I was able to find 25 of them (I needed 20).

We did the traditional snacks and hangover kits in our hotel welcome bags, but the best welcome bag I've received as a guest at someone else's wedding contained a pre-packed wine flight with 4 types of wine. It was awesome and definitely hit the spot!

Wow! That’s fantastic. Did you happen to get the name and/or wine brand? We are wine drinkers and that would be perfect. Would you happen to have a picture of how it was presented? I’m so excited about this idea 🥰

Sorry I wish I took a picture or remembered the brand! It was like 3 years ago at a cousin's wedding. I just remember that they were prepacked glasses of wine that could stack on each other (not real glass, but thick plastic), arranged in a little basket of some sort. My sister and I drank them at the hotel while we were getting ready and thoroughly enjoyed them. They looked kind of like this but in different varieties:

I would do a covid bag with masks, hand sanitizer, but also snacks that are local to the area, a Itinerary for your guests

Yes, that's a great idea. Shopping for mini hand sanitizers now.

That's a great idea. Unfortunately, in Los Angeles everyone will need to rent a car or manage their transportation through Uber. But I do like including the local map. Thank you!

One of the welcome bags we received at an out-of-state wedding had a bunch of delicacies from that state. It happened to be Wisconsin, so they did cheese and crackers (they were able to have the front desk refrigerate and give out when the guests arrived), some soda that was manufactured in Wisconsin, a beer from Wisconsin, and we each got little magnets. It was cute and kind of cool to get a taste of the local products, especially because we didn't really have much time to do any exploring for ourselves.

Yummm! I love Wisconsin cheese and Spotted Cow Beer. These are great ideas. Has me thinking . . .what local delicacies can I get from Los Angeles/Pasadena? Hmmmm?

    Thank you!
