Outdoor Aisle Runner and Carpet

Jenhandlady, on May 30, 2023 at 3:08 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

I've read some other posts and it seems this is a big no-no at present, but my outdoor venue is literally rock and gravel that I'll be going up and down in addition to where we will be standing will also be gravel/rock/dirt. I am a little concerned about the dirt/dust that my train will get.

What would you do or not do and why? Thanks everyone!!!

Edit: a different venue is not possible. And guests will be aware this is an outdoor venue at a nature center.

To be perfectly honest, I would be looking for a different location. However, if this is the only option available to you, I would make sure guests are aware so they wear appropriate shoes. I would be very upset if I arrived in expensive heels to a location with dirt and gravel. And it also presents a safety hazard for guests, as they could trip, fall, roll an ankle, etc (especially children, women in heels, and the elderly). As for your train, you are correct- dragging it down a gravel road is going to get it filthy, and likely create tears. The only thing I can think of to lay down would be some thick heavy duty rugs. There are still going to be lumps under the rugs, but it should provide a somewhat smoother, safer walking surface.

My venue was outside in the dirt. I personally didn’t care about my dress getting dirty (I have no plans to ever wear it again tbh.) And I put on our website that our venue was outside for our guests and to wear appropriate shoes. If you care about the dirt you can try to find some kind of rug like cece said. I wanted a woodsy ceremony so I embraced the dirt! I also didn’t wear heels as I have an old foot injury that makes heels very uncomfortable so I wasn’t worried about tripping but I can understand you might be worried about uneven ground Outdoor Aisle Runner and Carpet 1

Thanks! I'll just embrace it. None of us are wearing heels for many reasons. I think I just worry about too many details.

Totally get it! I stressed too until I realized that too much worry would make it a miserable experience and once I realized that and let go a little everything fell into place ☺️

If your dress has the room you can also add an underskirt so that’s the part that’s collecting the dust and mud and the rest of the skirt stays in tact. There are some super inexpensive ones on Amazon and Etsy for all skirt types!
