Outdoor Ceremony - Staying Warm

2019Bride2B, on June 11, 2018 at 10:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
For brides who did/will get married outside during the spring, what did you do or what do you plan to do to stay warm? I’m getting married in late May and if the weather permits the ceremony will be outside. However I know that the temperature could easily range anywhere between 50 degrees to 80 degrees. I was looking at a fairly lightweight sleeveless dress so if it’s on the cool side I’m worried that I’ll be uncomfortably cold during my ceremony. Just curious what everyone else planned to do in case their spring wedding ended up being on the colder side.

I’m also getting married in the Spring. For our guests we will purchased some of these shawls in gray and dark red. They will be placed in a distressed looking gray crate. That way if our guests get chilly they can wrap these around themselves. I’m debating if I should buy this long tulle and lace jacket to wear over my dress. I don’t think it will cover the details on my dress.

I'm having a fall wedding so I know the feeling. My dress is strapless and low cut in the back. I'm afraid of my shoulders and arms getting cold. I got a slip for under my dress and I'm also ordering a bridal buddy for under the slip (so I dont need escourted to the restroom every time) I'm hoping those extra layers will help keep me warm till we get into the tent. I'm renting a couple space heaters for in the tent but hoping not to need them.

Does your venue have heaters you can use if needed? If not, perhaps you can rent some and cancel them closer to the date if it turns out to be warmer. For yourself, you could get a shawl or jacket to match just in case. Depending on where your wedding is and how late it goes, it might be cool at night anyway so you might want a little something to cover up.

My venue does not have heaters but we’ll only be outside for a short ceremony and then the reception is indoors. I like the idea of putting a slip under my dress! I think I might ask about that. I don’t want to use a shawl if I can avoid it because I’m not a fan of what they look like and I don’t think it would go with my dress. But thank you for the suggestion!
