Outdoor ceremony without an arch

Kelsey, on October 24, 2019 at 3:08 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 14

Hi! Have any of you had, or are any of you planning on having an outdoor wedding ceremony without an arch or really anything to define the ceremony space, specifically where the bride and groom stand. I would love to see pictures of your ceremony or pictures that have inspired you! I attached a few myself.

Me! I had a couple flower buckets around, but the geographical space was the most important part to me, and I didn’t want to interfere!

I had one without an arch ! We also had a big tree in the background though so it was kind of obvious where we would stand

We didn’t have one either because the patio we were on overlooked the lake. I love a natural outdoor setting.

I'm eloping outdoors, and won't have an arch. If the scenery is pretty enough, the wedding arch only distracts.

We're planning on getting married at Rocky Mountain National Park (we can't book until max a year in advance). They don't allow decorations, arches, or chairs (with exception of those brought for the elderly, sick, or injured) of any kind. It's gonna save us a ton of money xD (I was originally budgeting about $2,500 for decorations haha)

I’m wondering the same. We don’t plan on having chairs but Sams club or Costco has greenery / garland that I was going to make an aisle. I like the bucket of flowers but my problem is that it’s a public beach. How do I distinguish that Hey this is my wedding so people know where to gather?

Out ceremony will be on the beach. We’re having tiki torches instead of an arch. We just weren’t feeling the arch look. I definitely don’t think one is necessary for an outdoor wedding. Let nature be your decorations.

We did hang lanterns and had an altar table but otherwise let the dunes and beach be our background. Our ceremonyOutdoor ceremony without an arch 5

I kind of like most places without an arch.

(I always thought people used them to cover when the view wasn't that great)

This is from a wedding I attended, they used this beautiful tree as the focal point.Outdoor ceremony without an arch 6

At this point we aren’t planning to have an arch. I’m a little torn because I see so many that I love on Pinterest, and FMIL thinks we need a focal point. Our biggest reasons for opting out are 1) wind- this will be an outdoor ceremony in the winter in the Columbia River Gorge (what if it blows over?!?), and 2) we are paying a premium for the view so it doesn’t seem to make sense to block it.
Honestly this is one of the decisions I am not confident in, so I’ll be following this conversation!

Our ceremony space has a natural tree arch! We may or may not skip the metal arch that is provided to us by the venue, although it does add another layer of interest.Outdoor ceremony without an arch 8
