outdoor store wedding registry

Cynthia B, on August 13, 2012 at 10:50 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

Is it strange that we want to register at an outdoor store? FH and I have lived together for 3 years now and have a beyond packed 3 bedroom house. We looked at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but there wasn't much that jumped out at us. But we are outdoorsy people. We love hanging out with our 3 dogs, and there is some camping gear that we have our eyes on but haven't been able to afford.

Does anyone know of an outdoors store that does a wedding registry?

Not sure on that one! Have you contacted any? I'd definitely try Gander Mountain, Camping World, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, and Academy Sports. I'm not sure if they have wedding registries in store but maybe you can do one of those online registries?

If you can't find a store you like with a registry, you can always set one up on Amazon. They allow you to add items from anywhere! We had the most things purchased for us via our Amazon registry for sure.

Ooh, REI definitely does registries. FH's coworkers have sworn not to buy us anything if we don't register there, lol.

REI for sure. We considered registering there. That's a pretty popular option in Colorado, several of our friends have done that. I don't think that's strange at all!

I would just set limits and make sure you're registering for stuff you're going to use together. For example I'm a climber but H is not, so as much as I would have loved to geek out and add carabiners and rope it wouldn't make any sense since it has nothing to do with H. We do like backpacking, hiking and car camping together though, so we could have filled a registry with fancy sleeping bags, back/day packs, camp accessories, maybe portable sun shelters, sling-style folding lawn chairs for concerts in the park or tailgating, a portable grill, etc.

ETA with REI I think you have to create the registry online, those guys don't get as excited about the scan gun thing as the consultants at BBB. Smiley smile But I think they can pull up the list for anybody who walks into the store. I can't remember the details though.
