Outdoor wedding in December: ideas for heat & shelter

Jennifer, on November 16, 2015 at 3:54 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

Our ceremony & reception are at a private home and I've already met with my 'day of' planner with whom I have discussed the possibility of needing to tent if there is rain... but what if it's just *cold*? We are already planning on renting heaters, but the tables will be in the backyard on grass, and we live in Southern California... so it may be temperate, in the 60's or it could get to a chilly low 50's into the evening. I was thinking of getting some sort of canopy for the seating area (it is only about 30 guests) that we could light and that would also help contain the heat of the heaters but couldn't find anything to show this in photos. Anyone have a resource for this sort of thing that I could show my planner and the rental company we plan to use? Thanks!

Maybe you could do a heated tent. Not sure how expensive that would be. I googled heated tents and quite a few sites came up so there may be something in your area. Here is a pic I saw. Maybe the reception can be in the tent just in case it's cold and the wedding outside.

Is your wedding really next month and you don't know yet? Geez. You need to do a full tent with walls. No one will enjoy your wedding if they're freezing their buns off.

Yes, get a tent with walls, not just a canopy.

Ditto all the above. You need a tent, with side walls, and heaters. Your tent and rental place will have photos and ideas for things that work; what your'e proposing will not. Your planner should have mentioned this on day one.

Depending on what you're doing, you probably need a 20X20 to seat everyone at tables, with room for a bar and buffet; 20x30 if you need a dance floor, but you definitely need a heater, and without sides, heat just rises.
