Outdoor Wedding Issues - Wind and Candles

sdbride, on August 30, 2016 at 11:47 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Hi all! Planning to put together centerpieces like the attached.

We will be creating the wood pieces ourselves and I wanted to do votive candles in votive holders in the middle, but our venue owner recommended using LED lights because it can get windy.

Two questions:

1) Does anyone have any good LED options they've used/are using? I've looked through many forums and online and haven't found any I'm super blown away by.

2) The option I prefer - do you think that votive holders are tall enough for tealight candles (as opposed to votive candles)? I'm thinking the tealight candles might be small enough that they'd be able to escape blowing out from the wind, but didn't know if anyone had any experience with this.

Thanks!

Tealight candles don't burn as long as votive candles.

I'd go with battery-powered candles -- of any size.

I second Nancy. Battery operated tea lights would work well.

Most crafts stores and Bed Bath & Beyond sell nice LED candles in all sizes. Check them out.

If you decide to go with battery operated, look for "warm" LED lights so the color is more natural looking.

I found some that burn for 7-8 hours and the reviews have confirmed it. Do you think these long-burning tea light candles would be short enough in a votive glass to not blow out?

Really not crazy about the look of battery powered candles unless someone has some they've used that look really good?
