Outdoor wedding .... Should I have a tent?

K & J 15', on April 30, 2014 at 9:42 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

My wedding is planned to be in a garden within a park. Very limited space, seeing as its outdoors should I rent a tent(canopy) for guests to sit under if weathers bad? Plus, mine's going to be in the fall should each guest get a fan to cool themselves off with, or maybe a fleece shawl to cover themselves if they get chilly? I saw these ideas on "Four Weddings" tv show and thought they seemed so cute to add. I already have my wedding favors set. Should I still get the fleece shawls, or fans all the same?

Im having an outdoor wedding next to a cabin. If weather goes bad we will just go to the reception area and get married there since its indoors. I think the shawl ideas are nice. Fall tends to more chilly where Im from rather than hot. But I am having fans at my wedding since its hopefully going to be warm

Yes you should have a tent in case the weather gets bad. That is a must for an outdoor wedding.

As for the fans or shawls, wait until you are closer to the wedding to see what the weather is like. It would be a waste of money to buy both and need neither.

Protip: Don't watch Four Weddings! It will make you second guess everything you have planned!

If you have no other rain plan, yes, a tent is a good idea.

A tent is a great idea not just in case of inclement weather but also if it's sunny so that people can get some shade. I definitely vote tent.

I would. A backup plan is always nice. What if the weather calls for rain..

You don't want to worry about that.

If you get a tent you can rent heaters, so no need to do the shawl thing unless you still want to.

Optimism is needed...you don't need a tent for if the weather is bad...you need it for the bright warm sunny day you are going to have! It can provide guests with shade

I'm having an outdoor wedding and we are getting a tent. I'm also doing fans as we are getting married in July. I wouldn't do the shawls, honestly, if the weather is likely to be chilly people will already have a jacket with them.

I reserved a tent rental and was able to cancel it up to 7 days before the wedding. I cancelled it exactly 7 days before because the weather forecast looked good (which it was). I think fans are fun but not a necessity. It ended up being 85 and sunny so I had someone run and buy enough bottled water for people to drink during the ceremony because I knew people would appreciate it.

I think having a tent is a good idea. Whether the weather is hot, cold or perfect people will still enjoy having the opportunity to go under Smiley smile

I'm having a backyard wedding and I'm pretty much planning everything inside a tent so there are no surprises and if it's a nice day we'll just move the ceremony and cocktail hour outside. But I did get a tent with walls in case of a hurricane and heaters on deck.
