Outdoor wedding speaker/sound solution?

Lauren, on December 26, 2017 at 7:13 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5
I’m having an outdoor wedding in May for 50 people. My FH & I are in grad school now so we’re pretty tight on money & I’ve been trying to save money anywhere I can.

I happened to to get an Echo Dot for Christmas & I also got my FH a Bluetooth speaker because he’s been asking for one for a year now.

I’ve heard the Dot works outside as long as yo I have another Bluetooth device to link it to. Is is it possible, then, to use the Bluetooth speaker (& another one or two speakers that are borrowed from friends/family) to play music/project the minister’s voice & use the Echo Dot as a microphone? How close would the Dot have to be to the minister? Can we just set it between the three of us or would we have to hold it up to our mouths? Any other cheap solutions??

You may not need anything at all with a small wedding. With rows of 5 seats, making 10 across, the guests will only be 5 rows away.

Im sure there is a way to digure this out but I wouldn't skimp on this. Nothing is worse than a ceremony where no one can hear the bride and groom.

I wouldn't recommend this. I'd look around for DJs that may be willing to provide ONLY music/sound service (rather than emceeing), and maybe that will save you money? We considered doing a speaker/music, but it was going to be too much of a hassle.

Oh, and is this outdoor wedding at your home or someone else's home as opposed to a venue? If so, do you have all that planning done? We had an outdoor wedding at our house and it is a LOT of money and not necessarily a cost savings way of having a wedding. I can give more insight and advice from our wedding if you're interested, just wasn't sure of the details of your outdoor wedding.
