Outfit suggestions for a Hawaii honeymoon

Nathan, on January 5, 2021 at 3:49 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

Hi everyone. Me and my fiance, we have chosen Maui as our destination for our honeymoon. Of course, we'll follow CDC's guidelines regarding the pandemic, but let's suppose that we could make it in the near future, maybe the later half of 2021.

Do you guys have any suggestions for outfits on the island? I mean as versatile as possible so that we can wear them not only to blend in easily with the local people but also become appropriate for most kinds of activities or traditional Hawaiian events.

My friends suggested that we get some pairs of Hawaiian shirts or tropical-styled clothes in general. Meanwhile, my fiance also wants something that's a little bit unique and personalized.

I heard about custom shirt services that let us upload or add our own details and preferences before purchasing. Is it really possible and how can I find such brands?

Thanks in advance!

Custom shirts seem to be a good choice of outfits to meet your requirements. Otherwise, you would have to ask for some tailor-made attire with a much higher price, yet may not be suitable for all the activities on the island.

My nephew once purchased 5 custom shirts in a row for his whole family to wear as a uniform, all are personalized with each person's name or nickname. I'll ask him where he got them and reply to you later.

Go for custom shirts. I got 2 from Hyperfavor before going to the Miami beach with my friends during the summer vacation and to be honest, I've never regretted that decision.

The cool thing is that they do provide the option of customizing the shirt on our own. Depending on each version of the graphic, you will be required to attach a jpg or png image file with the order. It can be your own name, nickname, or even a short quote that can be placed on the collar, shoulder,s or sleeves.

Just make sure that you read the guideline on how to wash them properly. Normally, the shirts are made quite durable so that you don't have much to worry about.

Thanks a lot. That's exactly what I was thinking. A Hawaiian uniform dress code for couples.

Thanks, Alice. By the way, can you tell me if this is their official website: https://hyperfavor.com/. Just want to make sure that we settle on the same thing.

I lived there for five years, you will blend in fine with just typical hot weather clothes, seriously.
I would also wait to get there to buy Hawaiian shirts, there’s a huge variety and you can get well made lovely shirts in the nice department stores there that are high quality.

I live in Hawaii but I’m from the mainland. If your concern is blending in, you really don’t have to do anything different. Your normal hot weather clothes will be just fine. It’s a little more casual compared to other places though. Wearing Hawaiian shirts will only make you stand out more, and look like tourists. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but you stated you wanted to blend in. Shorts and tshirts or short sleeve button downs are appropriate for pretty much any activity you would want to do on the island.

Thank you Ayla and Samantha for your advice. Maybe I'll grab at least some casual couple clothes, you know, we just want to have everything well-prepared and enjoy them to the fullest.

I went to Hawaii years ago, and literally all I wore were different bathing suits every day, and then I had 2 sundresses that I rotated wearing every night to dinner 😂 since I only wore them a couple hours per day I could easily rewear them. I felt so dumb because I packed a whole suitcase worth of clothes and wore the same thing every day hahaha. Beach vacations like that you really should pack very little! However yes if you’re looking for custom shirts, I’d check out Etsy! Getting “just married” shirts are great... we got lots of free stuff while wearing ours! Smiley winking

We are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon in April 2021!

I agree with Gen, last year I went to a private beach in Florida, and I packed an entire suitcase thinking that was going to look cute every day... NOPE LOL. I wore swimsuits all day and then change into cute dresses maybe three times!

I would definitely look on Esty for matching custom t-shirts!

Lol didn't notice that. Thank you Ash and Gen. By the way, I thought Hawaiian people would be a little bit picky on tourist outfits. That is because I have sometimes heard about the dramas in which local people behave not so nice to outsiders when it comes to staying for a living in the long term.

Of course, I'm going there for my honeymoon instead of long-term residence, but those ideas and dramas still count, right?
