Outlandish registry items

A friend of mine is getting married and posted her wedding registry on fb, her first mistake. On her registry she has video games, clothes, makeup, gift cards, and underwear. I've never seen a registry quite like this. What are some outlandish things you've seen on registries recently?

@Melissa: My understanding of a registry is that it is for things that you, as a couple, would like to have. Since many couples either both have houses set up before marriage or are already living together it is becoming more and more common that they don't actually need things to set up their household. I don't really think video games are any less needed than champagne flutes or a whiskey decanter. Neither are necessities. They are just things that the couple would like to have.

So if one of our choices for a gift registry item is a video game, that hubby and I would both play together, we should just go to a courthouse to get married?

    Righty-o ....

I feel that the underwear is odd, but not the video games. We are having outdoor games and board/card games on ours.

@Enchanted That makes sense. We had a lot of random stuff show up on our BB&B registry (giant kit Kat bar and scrub daddy sponges) so that makes sense.

@Dreamer, not if you are asking for a video game. But if you are relying on your registry to buy underwear, then yes. You should go to the courthouse.

I'm totally down with the video game. It's the personal items, that only one half of the couple can use, that weirds me out.

There were things on our registry that only one of us uses. I.e. Meat knives, because my husband is the meat master.

Our registry initially looked pretty off the wall, because we were given one of those UPC code zappers, which really got screwed up.

Tampax ended up on our registry as a bought item. Guest went to our registry store and must have bought a box, when she bought our shower gift.

P.S. So now people who get married at the courthouse are being insulted? Too poor to buy their own underwear?

FH and I have joked about what we would register for if you could legit just register for anything. He said guitars and video games, I said horse stuff. I need a new helmet and new show clothes!

We won't do it, but man it'd be great.

I think there's a fine line between inappropriate and appropriate items. Underwear definitely is not appropriate

The video game isn't too out of the norm these days... a friend of mine had a bunch of board games on hers and my FH and I have a Best Buy registry with a PS4 and a few games. Makeup and especially underwear are, however, quite inappropriate.

The vision of great aunt Jane buying underwear for the groom has me laughing.

I'm thinking it was the wrong list or she registered for those things not expecting others to buy them, but for the completion discount

I know it is definitely not the wrong list as she said it's mostly wants and a few needs (underwear, makeup, etc). If you cannot afford to buy underwear you cannot afford to do much in life unfortunately

A friend of mine had some household necessities on her list, but it was mostly board games and books and things that the couple collected, as they had already been living together for some time. I might buy someone a video game off their registry but I think I would pass on things like makeup or underwear. If those were my choices, I think I'd just give them cash.

If I ever see video games or board games on a registry I always buy them. I figure the couple will enjoy that a hell of a lot more than a blender. That's not so weird. The underwear...that's weird.
