Outside wedding - no arch?

SleepytheDwarf, on July 29, 2016 at 12:57 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

We are getting married outdoors at a country club. There isn't an arch or pergola or anything readily available (although we could rent one, I'm sure). For those of you who did not have an arch, how did you style your "altar" area? Share your pics so I can get some inspiration!

We are getting married outside .... No arch, no alter. We are getting married at a B&B so our "backdrop" will be the B&B. It is a beautiful 126 year old stone house.

I'm not using an arch because I'm getting married up against a really pretty scene I want completely visible. I was thinking of using wood stumps decorated with flowers.

FYI, renting an arch for our wedding was super cheap! Like $30 plus delivery fee.

@Martins I like that first picture! We'll be getting married under a beautiful old tree and it will be lovely, but my mom's friend said it's really important to have something "framing" the B&G for photos. Not sure how much I agree but for some reason it got me anxious last night.

Wow @annakay I fully admit I didn't even look up rental costs but I assumed it would be WAY more than that.

@ Flighty- I liked the first one best too! What if you tried this or mix it with the first one with the flowers:

That is so cool! I never in a million years would have thought of that (the fabric hanging from the tree).

Yeah, I think it looks gorgeous or even a floral garland hanging from the tree in the same fashion. The fabric would probably be cheaper than a floral garland though.

I think it would be pretty to do the fabric and then still have all the flower petals on the ground where you stand.

Renting an arch was extremely expensive in our area.

We're doing something like this instead. Cheap end tables from Ross we can use after the wedding, discount vases and DIY silk florals

My cousin made an easy one from 2x4s. It's was very pretty and he decorated the top with fancy woodwork. My fiance's brother did tall and medium wood pedestals on both sides that had large overhanging Bouquet's. Gorgeous.

I hired a DOC and she told me that we need something to frame us during the ceremony as well. We will be standing in front of a large fish tank and she's done many weddings in this venue and says the weddings that don't put anything framing the b & g it looks like they are floating in pictures. I'm not sure what I'm going to use yet to frame though so I will be following this thread.

We are having a county club wedding as well. We are going to frame the space with multi leveled stumps (that FH cut) and place candles in jars on them. Rather than a whole wall, we are just doing like 2 or 3 on each side of us. See inspiration pic:

Ooooh OAB that's gorgeous! We are going for something less rustic but I wonder if we could create a modified version of that.

Yeah, our finished product is not as rustic either, the stumps are uniform and full rounds, not chopped up like the photo here. I also experimented with vases of while flowers rather than the candles. I likes it because it was SUPER cheap. (if you know someone with access to logs)
