Outside/Inside Venue

Kristin, on September 16, 2010 at 10:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

Our date is set for July 23, 2011. My mom has this vision of the ceremony taking place at a local gazebo in a park. I've also looked into the beautiful lawn of my college where commencement is usually held. We are outdoorsy people, so I am torn between doing it outside, or just playing it safe with rain and weather and getting an inside venue. The inside place is really affordable, but then my mom goes on to say "Well what about the tear down? Who will do that when we are busy going to the reception." She's not being pushy at all about it, I just feel torn myself between it being inside our outside.

July in Illinois can be temperamental- humidity, rain, extreme heat.. Anyone else fighting with yourself between deciding on an inside/outside venue? I'll probably just do it inside to be safe, but I still think about the beauty of it being outdoors.

Yup!! Our wedding is in FL so we arent even considering from July to Sept. and even then from Oct to June we're positive it'll be indoors.. I'd play it safe with an indoor route.

I always tell people who schedule an outdoor wedding to have a tent or an indoor place as back up. The weather everywhere is subject to change during the summer but outdoor weddings are beautiful!

I have the same problem... the place I found has an indoor "plan B" but I am not too happy with it.. so I don't know.. still looking for a venue I love, although this one is close!

Ya I love the indoor place, the venue is beautiful and really affordable. We would have the reception and ceremony there if we could, but they don't allow alcohol, so reception is else where. I just have that tugging in the back of my head that's like "but you guys have dreamed of it being outside.." It is just WAY easier inside. hmm..

That was my same problem! either an hacienda or an old convent turned hotel in PR. In the end, we decided that it was worth the risk since we wanted something memorable in the first place (hence destination wedding). If it rains, my mother already said she would be the first one in the dance floor dancing under the rain Smiley smile

BTW we chose the hacienda. The wedding reception will take place in the courtyard :0)

Nope, I knew I wanted our ceremony outdoors at my mom and dads, and never worried about it, I did have the reception hall as our back up incase it was nasty out side, and it would of worked out if it was nasty, people would of had a place to sit and relax while we got married, then they would of just had the bar open earlier so they could drink while we took pictures outside (if it was nice) ANd the day of the wedding, the weather was perfect, we had some thunder and lightning, but it helped the guests get more settled so I could hurry up and get down that aisle!

I'm being brave and not really having a backup, which is especially brave in OR... August is usually a safe month for us, but its Portland, it rains nearly 300 days a year! Our venue is nice enough to provide large white umbrellas 'just in case'! LOL!

Just found out the inside venue we were thinking about is already booked for the date we want.

We have the reception booked already on the Saturday.

I guess on to creating a Plan B.. whatever that might be..

Wow am I a little down now... Smiley atonished

Also.. I vow to not be miserable even if it does rain. I went to a wedding that was moved inside because of rain and the poor bride just cried and cried because she wanted a garden wedding.

We are having an outdoor wedding at my grandparents house rain or shine! We are having a tent just incase. But we could have tornados that day and we would be outside saying "I Do!"

We were married at the end of July, and we are in So Cal. I have been to enough outside summer weddings in So Cal to have immediately ruled it out for my own! 1. I did not want my guests sweltering in possible 90 heat (we don't worry about rain in So CA), and 2. I did NOT want to feel uncomfortable - sweaty, hot - in any way on my wedding day! We were married indoors, where it was nice and cool and comfortable!
