I really thought the planning stress would happen closer to the wedding, not a year out! We have a relatively small budget of $6,000 (excluding honeymoon and rings) and we are already almost over it and we still have a lot to pay for. At this rate it's going to be closer to $12,000, which isn't a lot in the world of weddings, but it's a lot for us.

I'm torn between just accepting the cost and continuing forward with planning or scrapping it while we can, and doing a micro wedding package somewhere.

Anyone else been in the same boat? What did you do?

I'm struggling with the same. I had a budget that is a little more than yours and now it's up about 5k more. I thought about throwing it all away too and just eloping. My mother reminded me though that the goal is to make your marriage with your partner last and you only have one wedding. If you can do it without going into debt, have a wedding for the memories AND so your family can celebrate with you! My two-cents, but I feel you girl; hang in there and best of luck!

I think the cigar bar makes sense for the bachelor party activity since only your fiance and his friends want it. Then, their chipping in to pay for it and it's not in your wedding budget.

Not sure if you’re into incorporating faux flowers to reduce the floral budget, but I loved mine. I really enjoyed renting from Something Borrowed Blooms for the whole bridal party, but they also have floral decor options to supplement real florals/greenery too. Their customer service was easy and wonderful too.

I'm trying to do a lot of things by asking family and friends to volunteer their skills (photographer, serving staff, and flowers). With 200 guests, we couldn't keep it below $15,000 as I had wanted. It's looking to be at least $17,000 since I'm also paying for bridal party attire. We moved our venue date to an off season date and I think we're saving $1500 for that. Hoping to have food delivered buffet style rather than plated service. But the great thing is that instead of a registry, we have a Vietnamese tradition where family and friends give us cash gifts so we may get about 80% back. We're gonna use fake flowers and one of our food preparers is offering a linens deal that can't be beat.
