Over or Under: Average Wedding Budget?

Maggie, on March 12, 2019 at 11:05 AM

Weddings cost a serious chunk of change, but couples still tend to underestimate how much they’ll spend on their wedding. Will you be over or under the average budget of $29,200? (Not including your engagement ring or honeymoon!) Is that more or less than you thought you’d spend on your wedding?...

Under the average, but still spending a lot more than we were hoping to!

Excluding our rings, our total budget is $22,700 to date. We still have a few small things to cover that maybe another $1K.

Just a bit under. We're still finalizing everything but we're looking at about $26K when all's said and done.

Under. We had been trying for 10K but we are sitting around 18K-19K right now with most of the big stuff paid for/fully quoted.

Under: $12,657...way more than I anticipated with the venue & caterer being the biggest chunk of that!

    Under:

Elopement budget - about $5,700 (thought by the end it will be a lot lower, we have some extra money budgeted in for just in-case reasons)

Honeymoon - $3,800 (again, we expect this to be a lot lower, but we budgeted extra just in-case.)

Definitely under lol. I definitely couldn’t see us spending 30k. We have to live beyond the wedding day.

We're overs ours sadly. We were trying to stick to 25K, but little things added up here and there making our cost so far: 35K. I guess its ok somewhat because we're having an Indian wedding: Mehendi, Ceremony, and Reception. So all in all two venues, two caterers, Three outfits, and photography+videography for all three events. Some of our friends dropped 30K just for one event, so we're spending around 15K per event.

Under! We’re thinking between $15-17k but we have a guest list of 120 and live in NY so our budget is pretty small in comparison. Plus, $10k of it is our wedding present from my parents so we’re only putting in the 5-7k! After doing the venue, catering, centerpieces, dj, florist, and photographer, if we have 100 people come we’ll actually be at $16k based on quotes for everything else

Under! My original budget for us was $15k. So far we’re under budget! And it will be less for us, since our parents are helping us a lot! We’re very blessed!

I originally thought $7k then after researching was shocked to discover I had daydreamed myself into $29k. I think we're closer to $11k now and feeling good about it!

When I answered this on the 12th i'd said 5.000 was our budget, but last night we talked about it and decided on $3000. I'm very frugal and although that's a small budget I think I can do it. Walmart and dollar tree will be my go-to's. I've been doing stuff to earn gift cards to supplement the budget, so the actual cash will go to the venue, his ring, and my gown/his tux.
