Overplayed First Dance songs - What songs are you sick of hearing?

I'm very grateful that the song FH and I have chosen for our first dance is not on here...yet! Its a new to me song and it speaks volumes to how I feel about him!

Country songs in general....everyone here in good ol' union county, NC is about barns, farms and boots...and the same country songs. Don't get me wrong, I like country, but people need to change things up a bit.

Do we think Marry Me by Train is overdone/weird? I cry every time I hear that song so I didn't want to walk down the aisle because I would be a hot mess but I was thinking maybe first dancs

@Ceci, we're actually using that for the bridal party to enter. Even if it is overplayed, choose a song that you want. The first dance is for you and your FH. If you love the song, go for it.

I will admit the first time I heard thinking out loud I was like yes! Then I looked it up and it was everywhere. At every wedding. It was a huge turn off for me. Like others have said, if you like it go for it. It's your wedding so you can dance to whatever the hell you wanna dance to.

I've heard All of Me only once but I hate it.

Does anybody remember how a few years ago (like 5 or 6 years ago, I guess), everyone had "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes? I actually remember thinking that maybe I'd choose that too if I got married. Rest assure I didn't, lol.

We couldn't pick a song because it felt like choosing from a list of "top 100 wedding songs". We had no special meaning to any and they seemed over played. We were down to Amazed by Lone Star, My Wish Rascal Flatts or The Way You Look Tonight.

We side screw it and picked "on top of the world" by our favorite band, Imagine Dragons. It was Perfect, so us, & we truly were 'on top of the world'

So glad I'm not the only one who's tired of Thinking Out Loud. We've been to three weddings that used it in the last year, and our dance instructor told us she currently has SEVEN couples using that song this summer. It's a pretty song but just so, so overplayed.

For father daughter songs, I LOATHE "I Loved Her First." I attended a wedding where the bride super awkwardly sobbed in her dad's arms to it the whole time and now I just get a kind creepy vibe from it.

Fh almost hates all genres except metal and a lot of rock. Yeah I love country and he says it makes his ears bleed. I introduced gin to Apocalyptica. Thankfully her liked them so we will be doing fade to black and having our guests join half way through.

@Randee: We're the reversed version of you guys. We both love rock, I love metal, DH loves country. I hate country. I'm sorry, hope I'm not offending anyone, but I really don't enjoy it at all.

ETA- this isn't a first dance song, but if I never hear Single Ladies ever again in life, I'd be totally cool with that.

YES @So.Many.Questions such a beautiful song!! Then again, I've never heard it as a first dance song.

@VC, oh no! That Bright Eyes song is one of my top picks, was it really that overplayed? I might get my hipster card revoked if it was, lol! My second choice is "This must be the place" by the Talking Heads but, on the opposite end of the spectrum, I thought that might be a little too "out there" for people.

I can't stand line dancing songs. Such as: Cha Cha Slide, Y.M.C.A, Hokey Pokey, Cotton-Eyed Joe, Chicken Dance, Macarena, Cupid Shuffle, The Electric Slide, the tootsie roll & The Locomotion. That list can go on on. I've heard them at every wedding I've ever been too. They remind me of school dances.

@Natalie: I went to three weddings in 2010 that had it as a first dance, haha. But that was sooooo long ago, it's no longer overplayed you should have it! It's so cute.

I've really been digging come to me by the goo goo dolls lately. Can't decide if I want to use it for first dance or recessional but I just love it and think it's so cute! Anyone else used it/seen it used?

This thread is perfection... That being said, I have no idea what our first dance will be. Maybe a Nat King Cole song?

@Natalie "this must be the place" is my absolute FAVORITE talking heads song! We are trying to find somewhere to put it.

I think Marry Me is totally overplayed.
