Painting Dark Wine Bottles - Tips & Tricks?

Ryanne, on March 16, 2019 at 5:10 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 3
Hello fellow DIY brides!

I’ve started working on a centerpiece project that I’ve been happily collecting wine bottles for! 🍷

I’d like them to all be painted white, and have started the spray painting process, and while I’ve spray painted a good amount of things before, it’s been taking *forever* to get enough coats to cover the bottles since they are all dark (I personally prefer red wine lol). Has anyone faced this problem before, or are there any spray painting gurus out there that can recommend any awesome products or tricks? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you tried chalk paint? It's not as easy as spray paint, but it should be more opaque.

I haven’t, but I’ve been eyeing it and wondering, because I know I’ve seen YouTube videos where people use it, and it definitely looks thicker. I forsure wouldn’t mind giving it a try!

Maybe you need a primer? I know when painting over dark walls it's always easier to do with a good primer. I know Michael's sells spray paint primer with their paints, as well as a clear top coat.
