Panda's Anyone?....

Abigaile, on August 4, 2014 at 7:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

I just recently joined and am trying to get ideas for my wedding taking place August 2015. Since my husband to be proposed to me at an anime convention in his panda costume we decided to have a panda wedding! our colors are green, (Bamboo, nature) Blue, (Sky, Water) Black and White, (pandas!)

Looking into the history of pandas we decided more on their habitat not their home country China to use as inspiration for design. but i'm a little short on ideas for making that work. We found a bamboo garden where we plan to hold the ceremony but flowers and the rest of the decor leave me clueless. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to share also i'd love to here what your wedding theme is and you find your inspiration!

First off this is a cute idea. It could be hard to go full on panda. So I would do little hints like use the colors in the decor and flowers. Don't limit yourself to it having to look like their habitat just hints. maybe have a little panda here and there. Your invites can reflect the theme. This way it still looks like a wedding. Using bamboo in centerpieces and a cake like what you have posted would look nice. I think just about any style dress would work.

This is so sweet Smiley smile I agree with Kelly that every single thing DOES NOT need to be "panda-themed"-- I think the key to pulling something like this off is to keep it subtle and classic.

You can get cheap bamboo plants from oriental stores in the mall then use them to create center pieces. With the plants as the focus you can include thinks like small bowls of water with stones and floating candles. Also, bamboo is super in right now for home decor so you could get bamboo place mats to use as table settings. Collecting stuffed animals and using them to decorate the cake/card table would be cute. Maybe have a photo booth with panda themed props or even your FH's costume? Perhaps, for favors you could give out little stuffed animals. Paper lanterns would also be a great touch at you can get them in white/black and they have an Asian feel to them. You could also decorate with things like these fans or use them as favors!

I love that he proposed to you at an anime convention! Smiley smile

Like MichiganinMay said you could use bamboo plants for centerpieces, I think orchids or callas pair very well with bamboo so it would have nice classy look and you still pull in your bamboo and white, maybe use black vase filler and you could have beautiful centerpieces.

Or if you would like a more simple black and white flower you could always go with something like the white amemone, which would be great for bridesmaids bouquets and groomsmen boutonnieres.

Here are some photos I found on google that may be good inspiration.

Oh I love this theme! Love the flowers on the bottom with the black centers, those are spot on! I also like the idea of using rocks water and bamboo for centerpieces. I always likes those bamboo plants that grow all curvy. Those would be interesting centerpieces in some kind of glass centerpiece with rocks in the bottom with water with white floating candles. Don't they like eating eucalyptus as well as bamboo? Those small curvy bamboo plants could be a great favor also. Is he going to wear a black and white tux?Smiley smile

I had some panda things at our wedding, I love pandas! We had a panda and hedgehog cake topper because I'm a panda and DH is a hedgehog. And I got a panda garter, though I didn't actually wear it because we didn't do the bouquet and garter tosses. And the last one isn't anything, I just have a panda speaker that we were using for music during the getting ready time.

Thank You for all your ideas! We are only having immediate family and close friends to the wedding and reception so i think most if not all of this could work. perhaps bamboo and river rocks for a centerpiece.....

That's cute. You should go to an Asian/Chinese grocery store and buy Hello Panda cookies as favors. Smiley smile They taste really good-- a biscuit with soft chocolate filling inside with a panda imprinted on the outside.

I know you said it would be a smaller wedding but what if you held the reception at your local zoo or botanical garden? That would fit your theme perfectly. Smiley smile
