pants size v/s dress size

STB Mrs Van Blargan, on September 15, 2010 at 8:24 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 23

How do you go about, figuring ur actual size?? what size is ur pants/jeans? what size is ur dress???

I wear 5-7 size jeans and my dress is a size 10. I got it 4 months after I had my son, just wondering how many sizes it will have to be taken in..

Wedding dress sizes are NOT the same as regular dress sizes!

Designers use their own charts to determine sizes instead of the standard ones, which means you’re probably going to end up wearing a larger size than you usually do. Don’t let this get to you. All that matters is how you feel in the dress, not the number that’s on it. Also - keep in mind that each designer uses their own sizing chart, so your dress size could be different for each designer!

Make sure the bridal salon takes your body measurements and orders a dress based on your largest measurement!

Wedding dresses usually run small. It may need to be taken in a little bit, but you won't know until you get closer to the wedding date and finish losing the baby weight.

I wear a 5-7 in jeans, but because I'm top heavy my dress is a size 10 or maybe a 12 even.

My jeans size/dress size are the same, actually. but I have to buy bigger jeans because I'm so tall. If I don't, it looks like im wearing flood pants.

Jeans 7/9, Skirts 6/8 but my dress was a 16! I am very top heavy though (38DDD) so I needed those puppies to fit comfortably and worried about the rest of the dress during alterations. I think in the end they did ok with taking it in, in the waist.

Typically your wedding dress size will be 2-3 sizes larger than your street size. That said, think about your dress style and your body type. If your dress is fitted on top, but has a full skirt, your pants size won't matter much. If it helps, my sister ordered her BM dress while nursing, and it was a 12. Now it's HUUUGE, she probably should have gotten an 8.

If you wear a 5/7 that is the equivalent to a 6/8 usually or 28/29 jean size. I vary in this range depending on the way the designers cut their pants. Some cut really small so I have to go up a size and others cut bigger so I go down a size, and my hip or butt area is my problem zone for sure.

For dresses you can't go by your pant size as they are totally different. Dresses don't have a rise aka in-seam. I am going to say that a 10 was the right size at the time of the order and you will have to alter it down a size or more if you are lucky. LOL.

I am 5'8". When I bought my dress in April of this year- I bought a size 10 off the rack and it fit perfectly. I was 160. I wore a 10-11 in jeans a med/large top. Since then I have lost almost 20 lbs and have had to have it taken in THREE times. I would WAIT til the last possible moment. Every time I lost 6-7 lbs I would try it on and the hip area would be too big and the seamstress would take it in. 3 times. I only have a month til my wedding and I am trying so hard not to lose any more weight- its so hard with all the stress.

My last dress fitting was last week. I weigh around 141. I wear a 6 -7 in jeans now and a small top. She took it in to what she said was a 6/8 in the hips and an 8 on top, because oh yeah, I lost breasts Smiley sad

I wear size 8 pants, and when I tried on dresses, she put in a lot of size 10 dresses, as I also have DD top. I'm hoping to loose 20 pounds before I buy a dress, so the size will probably change. DB had petite sizes, and the sales lady brought out a dress in a 10P so I could see what a right size dress would look on me, and it fit like a glove, I would not have to have it hemmed or anything! I'll attach a picture.
