My bridesmaids did this for me at my bachelorette party. It was really cute and fun. They liked the idea much more than a lingerie party and I did too.

Did this for my friends bachelorette! She wasnt the type for a lingerie party so we all brought one for bachelorette. We made it a slight drinking game by having her drink if she guessed wrong and the person drink if she guessed right! Highly encourage it!

I think this would be fun, as long as I knew the bride super well. I invited all the women invited to the wedding in my area to the shower which included my bosses wife & girlfriends of groomsmen so while I did know them and met them several times, I'm not sure I'm close enough with them for this haha!
