Paper flowers?

Ashley, on April 10, 2017 at 2:35 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

Has anyone done all paper flowers for their wedding? I'm a very crafty person so I'm wanting to make flowers myself. I've found a lot on Pinterest but I've never heard of people doing their wedding full on paper flowers.

Is it tacky?

Post pictures if you have or know someone who has please!

Do you already know how to do this? A lady around here does paper flowers, they are pretty, but a lot harder to make than they look... She tried to show me... and I consider myself crafty!!! LOL

I met with a paper florist for our wedding. We decided to go with real flowers but her work was very impressive. If it's done well it's beautiful.

I made all of my flowers myself for the entire wedding from paper!! I'm going to post a few pics. I'm on mobile, so bear with me!! I spent 100's of hours working on them (had a two year engagement). This pic is my bouquet.

Each centerpiece had roses. I used cardstock paper to make my flowers. I spent about $300 on all of my flowers. However, it took me forever to do!!

Taryn how many flowers do you think you used for your wedding? Those are beautiful! I've already made quite a few burgundy roses and although they're pretty easy to do, they are very time consuming lol

I am, I've done my bouquet and I'm finishing up my BM's bouquets. I've got all the corsages and boutonnieres done. I'm still figuring out the centerpiece's but that's about all the decor I'm doing. It's a lot of work. But I really enjoyed doing it. YouTube has a lot of DIY tutorials that help.

For the origami flowers: I made about 175 flowers for the seven bouquets (mine, the toss, and the five BMs), 13 for the boutonnieres, 7 for the corsages (moms/flower baby), about 25 random flowers for venue decor. For the roses: I made 30 for the centerpieces. The total comes to about 250 flowers. I had my silhouette cut out all of the squares for my origami flowers and the petals/leaves for the roses. Without the silhouette...I don't think I could have had the patience to make my own flowers! I spent about six months folding the origami flowers DH and my mom helped me fold my origami flowers. One of my BMs helped me add them to the bouquets. I constructed the roses alone. I watched many seasons of "Say Yes to the Dress" as I worked on ALL of my flowers!! It wasn't too bad!!

Edit: Added pictures! Now that I'm not on mobile I could post a pic of the corsages, a pic of the folding process, and a pic of the stem of my bouquet (which I wrapped with ribbon and added jewel to the end of). Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!!
