Parasol Umbrellas for ceremony/favors?

Caris, on May 9, 2013 at 10:40 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Our ceremony is outside, in June, in GA (yes I know it's hot but it will be quick I promise!). I'm thinking of buying these for shade and they will double as favors (for the females anyway lol). The only thing I'm worried about is the way people will hold them... if they're held at an angle the guests behind them may not be able to see! How many have used (or will use) parasol umbrellas for their outdoor ceremony? Thoughts? :-)

I think that those will block people's views. How about fans as favors?

I think it is a pretty and unique favor. Other people have obviously used the idea before, so they made it work someway. People will just have to be more aware of their surroundings.

I'm using them, but on the beach in Cancun Mexico.

@Molly I'm thinking to add a cute note saying "please hold upright to prevent blocking those behind you..."? I'll probably do fan programs too.

@Sarah that reminds me I'll need some baskets too!

Has anyone out there already done this and did you have any issues?

My wedding is in June in Florida (live in Georgia :-), so haven't had a chance to use them yet but I have purchased them. I added a tag to mine as well as my greeter will give them to the guest as they arrive and let them know to be careful not to obstruct other guests view.

@MrsHawkins2B thanks! Would you mind sharing the wording of your note? And that's a great idea to tell the greeters to instruct guests!

@MrsHawkins2B where did you purchase yours? I'm trying to find cheap ones in my colors (red and turqoise), of course the cheapest are white lol (saw them on orientaltrading.com). I might go with white and used colored tags. I feel like some people won't keep them as they are coming from out of town (not very convienient to pack in a suitcase).

I bought mine from American Bridal, please see link below.

    http://www.americanbridal.com/paper-parasol-17902.html

The front of my tag says " Take a parasol for shade" our names and date

Back: Please be careful not to obstruct others view. Enjoy!

I thought of that also, that's the reason I didnt have them personalize the parasol itself. I thought I could maybe resell them if I have some leftover in good condition.

I love this idea and having the ushers ask them to hold it upright might help.
