Parent Gifts & Wedding Favors

Brittany, on September 3, 2019 at 8:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

I've been to a few weddings recently and it seems all of them have had wedding favors. Basically giving a small gift to your guests. One friend did chapsticks another one did koozies. I'm just curious how many other couples are doing gifts. I don't want to spend a ton on them, but I'd like some ideas. And then parent gifts. I know it's pretty custom to get gifts for the parents, but I know that both our parents are going to throw a fit if we spend money. What is everyone else planning on doing for these two categories?

I’d recommend doing some sort of edible favor so they don’t get left behind. Like cookies, or even shooters. You can incorporate your escort cards into your favors (everyone picks up a favor with their name/table on it).

I see a lot of success with edible favors, but useful ones go well as long as you know your crowd. We are doing these bottle openers. They include pillow boxes that we filled with trick or treat size bags of skittles.

We were going to do cookies, to go with the edible theme so that people would be more likely to actually take them. But then we priced it out and it was going to be at least $500 for 150 cookies. So, instead we decided to go with recipe cards. Something interesting and different.

and the recipe favor has one of 12 of our favorite recipes on it. We did 12 so that no group would have to take home the same recipes.

We're giving our guests flower bulbs in little white bags that say "Plant one on us" (so cheesy, I know) We'd considered flower seed packets but we like the idea of the bulbs coming up year after year.

We have decided to make a donation to a charity like Make A Wish in lieu of favors. We may just get some business cards printed and have them at each table setting.
