We made custom exotic wood cutting boards for both sets with a laser engraved message on the back. I'm adding wrought handles to the boards and we'll both write personal letters to our parents as well. I might add in a small personal gift for my mom and FMIL but I haven't decided what yet.

I'm thinking we may do the frame thing too. FH's family isn't paying for anything involving the wedding but my parents have contributed about $300 so I want to give them something as thanks. I figure a nice frame for both sets would be okay. Right?

^We got our parents these platters from Etsy and I am absolutely in love with them. We haven't received them yet, but giving them to our parents at the rehearsal dinner is probably in my top ten right now of "exciting moments I'm looking forward to in regards to the wedding"

I got mine a custom frame. I know it's done a lot but I couldn't think of anything else. I'm a horrible gift giver.

I think I'm going to do silver 8x10 frames with our names and wedding date engraved to be filled with a photo of their choice...and then maybe a round of golf, but we really haven't thought too much about it

We did customized hankies from Etsy. Then, bought a bracelet for Mom and monogrammed whiskey glasses and whiskey for Dad.

Im working on this too =( im struggling. For the mothers, they are my bridal party, they are walking down the aisle with our son and they have helped me through this whole planning process so i reallly want to thank them. I was thinking a mother of the bride/groom shirt for the day of, the knot personalized totes, a necklace or bracelet, and a picture frame. But I am really struggling with the guys. I am thinking a handkerchief and frame for my dad but would like to get him something usable. and something for FH's stepdad who has been a great help.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on my father's parents' wedding portrait, and my mom's parents' as well. I'm having the photos restored, and getting a nice frame with 4 slots; one for each of my grandparents photos, one for my parents bridal shot, and an empty space for when they get mine.

I got my dad engraved cuff links and my mom a necklace and earrings. My husband and I also booked a photography package which included parent photo albums...it was super easy bc now all I have to do is give our parents flash drives with the photos and they order what they want directly through the photographer! No more wedding work for me! Smiley smile

We took our parents out to a really nice dinner together, the 6 of us - his and mine and us a few days before our wedding. It helps that our parents have become friends over the years so it was just a nice evening all together. I wrote cards to both sets of parents and promised a wedding photo album. I delivered on the album (Snapfish custom layflat book) about 2 months after the wedding and they ALL cried upon receiving it!

I'm letting them help with my wedding! Seriously though they've been waiting a long time for one of us to get married. Through circumstance my mom was the only one who was able to attend my sisters wedding, and that was small and simple at a VFW hall. I used the embroidered handkerchief idea from etsy but my Aunt is doing the embroidery, dads also getting cufflinks and mom is being pampered as well as receiving her MOB shirt for pre wedding festivities

We paid for the wedding ourselves, so we wanted to get something small but nice. I got my parents a set of wine glasses that say we survived our daughters wedding. My mom has helped with smaller details so it will fit well. I got FMIL a nice bracelet from ETSY that says Mother of the Groom and our wedding date. We are still undecided on FFIL.

@ Kimberly. Thanks for the idea! I have been struggling for an idea for FMIL and that sounds about right.

I feel like no gift will be big enough to my parents in particular. We were paying for the wedding ourselves and this last weekend received a cheque for the full amount of the wedding. We'll probably do photo frames, and then later on create leather bound albums with the pro pics once they arrive for Christmas. I also want to paint something for my parents' new house.

My parents don't ever want "things" any more, just "experiences." So, I'm either getting them intro scuba lessons or local Broadway season passes. I'll probably throw in a spa certificate for my mom b/c she did all the heavy lifting. My photography package includes parents' albums (for both sets), too.

FH parents are probably in the same category as my parents, but they are working abroad in the middle of nowhere, so we can't get them a cool experience because we (and they) don't know their future schedule of when they will be back in the US and for how long. FH said his mom was really excited about getting family pictures at the wedding, so we will get a large framed photo for them.

My parents like experiences or memories just like "Texasbythyfronteir" said. So we are doing frames from a company on etsy (I'll attach link) since we can personalize them and they look rich. But Also a golf trip for them to go together.

Also attached a few of the frames so you don't have to click the link unless you want them.

I have purchased a CUTE frame from an etsy shop. They personalize it and everything! I bought it to match my in-law's living room colors. www.etsy.com/shop/photoflorastudio
