One of the most important pre-proposal traditions has always been asking the bride's father for their permission... or as the tradition has (thankfully) evolved - asking your future in-laws for their blessing!

The results of our 2019 Newlywed Report showed that 67% of couples still ask the parents' blessing. Are you cutting out this tradition and jumping straight to sharing the engagement news? Or is this tradition still important to you (or your parents)?

Modern, he didn't ask even though I know my parents would have liked that since they are a little more on the traditional side.

Traditional. I told him he 100% had to ask my dad in person and get his permission.

Modern. I proposed to him, and I didn't ask anyone for permission.
I am adamant for him to meet my mum before the wedding day though, as I do want her approval. I'm certain that she will like him though, because he's so sweet and he adores me. ☺️

Traditional with a modern twist. Noah wanted to ask just my father, but I laughed and told him tough luck cause my mother will also be walking me down the aisle so he better prepare as she’s the one he’ll need to convince.

Modern. My dad doesn't hate him or anything. But he thought I should know first. I'm the one who he proposed to, not my dad.

    Ended up being traditional.

It wasn't important for me that he asked for my parents' blessing nor did I expect him to, but after he proposed he told me that he actually asked both of them (divorced) and showed them the ring beforehand.
