Parents entrance song

andrea, on August 7, 2017 at 10:02 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14

So I am trying to come up with a song for the parents entrance into the reception it will be both my parents, FHs parents then my MOH and BM no bridal party. I want an 80s song or earlier as the songs for the night are going to be mostly 80s/90s and earlier for the night. So far I like Rolling Stones-start me up or jump-van halen(my dads favorite growing up) any other recommendations? My FH and myself are walking into kickstart my heart-MC and our first dance is Bon Jovi.

No help here. In our social circle parents don't participate in a reception entry. In fact, my mother would have been horrified, if asked to participate in something like that.

I've seen it done before and I don't have a bridal party so I wanted to do something special for them.

I love your song choice, but to have a bit of extra fun, let them walk into the room with a classical tune and 30 seconds later, your dj can rip into into your dad's fav, Jump - it's a rock classic and a must have. Your parents will dance to their table and will put a smile on folks' faces and make great photos.

We want to have an entrance song for our parents and my grandpa. We are huge 80s fans (who isn't!?) but are having difficulty coming up with a song. We thought of "White Wedding" by Billy Idol and "Don't You (Forget About Me)" from Simple Minds (love me some Breakfast Club).

I did Beautiful Day by U2, mostly because my mom loves that song and it's pretty upbeat. They loved it.

I'm doing Stevie Wonder's for once in my life. I like your idea of Jump by Van Halen if your dad likes that song.

Both of the songs you have suggested sound fun! Have you asked your parents if they have a preference?

Hey Andrea, I love you music choices! 80's rock rock fans have to stick together! Have you thought about throwing in some Journey?

My fiancé and I and our attendants and parents are walking in to "Mr. Blue Sky" by ELO. Not the entire song, since it is crazy long, but the fun peppy parts. My FH, myself, my mother and his parents are all big ELO fans, so we think it will be great. Plus it's a fun song talking about the sky opening up and good things coming your way--perfect for a wedding, in my opinion. Definitely my recommendation. And while ELO started in the 70s, they stretched out through the 80s and remained popular throughout that decade.

Best of luck with all of your planning, and congratulations on your wedding and engagement!!!
