Party ideas

on September 21, 2020 at 10:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Instead of typing out the whole long situation, basically I’ll say we got screwed over by our venue and had to cancel our whole wedding and get married legally anyway. While this is obviously something my husband and I are still very heartbroken over, we are planning on having a one year anniversary party with our guest list this coming April since we haven’t celebrated with anyone yet.
My problem is that I am terrified of signing a contract with another venue because as I now know there are so many things that could go wrong with the way things are right now. And I don’t really want to plan anything inside because we may still not be able to have indoor events in April. So it will be outside in April on the east coast. Aside from renting tents and space heaters, if anyone has an ideas for a first-year anniversary party I would be grateful! I think I’m having a little trouble getting excited because I can’t picture what this event is going to look like

Would you be willing to do a 2-year anniversary party? I know it isn't ideal and you want to celebrate ASAP, but realistically April on the East Coast will be challenging for an outdoor event and it would be such a bummer to not get what you're envisioning!

How many guests do you plan to invite? I worry this coming April may not be much better in terms of Covid depending on where on the east coast you’re referring to. I wouldn’t want you to sign a contract and get stuck again. Make sure the venues you’re considering have a cancellation/postponement section on their contracts that you’re comfortable with.

We are planning to start a family soon so I dont really want to wait another year. And weve already been planning this for almost two years now so I kinda want it over too 😂

About 70 guests. I just attended a wedding over the weekend so that makes me feel like we can definitely hold something in April without a problem, I was more trying to figure out how to hold it outside. We dont really want to get into a contract again and potentially be in the same situation with them

Hmmm I think in that case, you may have to re-evaluate the guest count. April is tough because it could be 65 and sunny or it could be snowing (most places on the east coast). I think lowering you count would be the only way to have a gathering, specifically without a contract. The only places that I can think of would be national parks (which there are many of), AirBnB or a private home of someone you know. I don't see another way to avoid a contract, but none of those options could accommodate 70 guests.

Well thats how many would be invited, not sure all would come. We may all be able to fit in a house and I hadnt thought of the AirBNB idea so thank you!

Be aware that AirBnb released a new policy forbidding parties larger than the home capacity. Does your local parks dept have community halls for rent? They're usually pretty flexible.

I think by April it’ll be MUCH better. Maybe look somewhere that has a heated tent as an option? Living on the east coast I’m sure you know the weather can be tricky. It can be 70 in April but it can also be 50.
