Pavilion Ceremony

Mrs.KatieK, on May 13, 2016 at 1:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

So FH and I are getting married in a state park pavilion. Well, technically we'll be outside of it and most of the guests will be under it. I want to put something at the back of the pavilion to block the view so I can walk up and wait to go down the "aisle." I think curtains of some sort would be sufficient, but I've been getting feedback that this can look tacky. I can't afford to buy room dividers or old doors. Has anyone ever done this? TIA.

Do you have pictures of the pavilion? I would think draped fabric would look beautiful if done properly.. Do you have any idea as to how you would hang them? I know there are event rental companies in my area that will rent out piping and draping/curtains.

A picture of the pavilion would definitely help! You could also have the groom turn his back and not turn around until the music starts

Its sort of difficult to see, but the photo is the back of the pavilion, where I would be walking up. There are some steel cables that run the width of the pavilion that the curtains (or fabric) could be draped from. It's a very casual wedding, but I still don't want the guests (or FH) seeing me do last minute touch-ups or directing the kiddos (RB, FG, etc.) when to start walking.

Looking more at the picture, the "aisle" could be offset a bit to the left of the pillar. Which would only require "blocking" half of the back. The parking lot, where I would be walking from, is also to the right side of the pavilion.

Fabric or streamers. I heard flagging tape works well also.

Here are some ideas and then you could add some more fabric so that the view is fully blocked.

You will have to ask if you are allowed to attach anything to the pavilion. I would make mine free standing. You can order Shepard hooks that adjust in size and can hold the weight of the fabric and drape the fabric from them. PVC can be used but if your material is heavy it may bend in the middle. You can tulle bought in 6 inch width spools, double the measurement of the length from where you will be hanging it and slip not it on to whatever you choose to hang from. The double tulle depending on what color you choose can block more than you think. Depending on your budget this can be done with lace and ribbon also. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!
