Paying for Out of State Vendors

Savanna, on February 9, 2021 at 2:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hello! We are most likely hiring a videographer that will be traveling about 2 and a half hours to our venue. I am unsure if they will be staying in town or driving back after our wedding, but if they stay, is it expected that my fiancé and I pay for their hotel stay? Will they stay in our blocked rooms at the hotel we choose? Anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Savanna! Typically, the videographer will include info about travel fees (if they have any) in their contract. Before you sign the contract, check with them on what their travel policy is, and they'll either tell you, "the cost is $__ for gas and hotel", or they could say "there are no travel fees". It differs per videographer, so make sure you ask them about it before you book them!

These details should be in their contract.

Ours is out of town but stipulated in their contract the fees we'd have to pay (which did not include lodging). Find a photographer you like and check their website for that information or email for clarity.

If they are from more than an hour away it’s expected you provide a hotel. The closer to the venue the better.
