Paying to go to someone else's wedding...

Jemy, on September 18, 2015 at 9:28 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 86

I meant to share a while back but forgot since I was wrapped up in wedding plans. Anyhow, we received a wedding invitation and in it was a small card (pictured) saying we need to pay $60. Lol even my FH knew that was ridiculous. He is the best man so we have to go. My FH still hasn't paid it. Not that he won't, he is just very last minute. Lol

WOW..that is gutsy to have guests pay for their way and then potentially expect a gift.

Yes, I was like no way is this real. But it definitely is. Fh said he text him like a week ago that he needs the money by this date.

Oh you need to do a follow up on this wedding. I'm curious how many people come and/or pay. I mean if you don't pay and come, do you just not eat? It bad enough you have to hunt people down to rsvp but this adds a whole other level to that.

Like your FH hasn't already paid enough to this wedding by being best man...I do think this is the tackiest thing I have ever seen!

Onboard? Is this wedding on a cruise ship?

Also I really would love to see their registry.

On board.....? A ship?? I'm doing a boat reception and I'm certainly not charging my guests for it.

I just posted a thread about strange customs, I told a story about people charging guests to come to the engagement party. I thought that was crazy. This is beyond! It's nice of them not to want a gift beyond the admission price.....

That's just beyond tacky! Seriously when it gets to that point don't host a wedding.

SO awful. Oh well.. lol this might be the cheapest wedding gift you ever give? I know I wouldn't be giving any further gift than my admission charge haha.

I'd probably be the bitch that gives them an empty card and writes "we are so glad we were able to give you the gift of our presence at the wedding! we wish you lots of love and happiness from this day forward!"
