Paying ushers?

Kristen, on May 11, 2018 at 11:38 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

Downloaded a wedding budget template on excel and there is a space for 'usher payment' under the ceremony. Is this something that's typically done?

I suppose if you were to hire outside people yes. Occasionally people will have the Groomsman act as ushers but that's also something you don't need and is easy to skip! You can always have the programs on a small table where people walk in (if you do them at all) to grab and they will be able to find a seat by themselves. If you're worried about seating for parents just put a reserved sign - though most people know not to sit in the first two rows.

No, not at all. i've never heard of paying for ushers. We're not having ushers (not friends or paid).

Maybe I'm misremembering I haven't attended mass in quite a while but, are their ushers at a Catholic ceremony? If so, I believe these are members of the church so maybe it means to give them money as a thank you.

Not sure, we are having a small ceremony and FH and his BM will be present to hand out programs and guide people to their seat if they are unsure but, we aren't having ushers.

I think that means for like a really fancy big wedding where you might hire professional ushers.
