Pcos and low blood sugars

Lauren, on September 23, 2017 at 7:03 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 8

Hi all, it's almost my 1 year anniversary on Monday and what a ride. We are currently planning a trip to New Zealand in February to celebrate! Yay for married life! Any other ladies out there struggle with the nasty effects of pcos? Specifically low blood sugar crashes? Well I've been dealing with pcos since being married and I've gained about 35 lbs back due to this and constantly having to eat. Super frustrating and I'm starting to become pretty depressed about it. Any similar stories and tips on this condition?

    No suggestions here; but I would talk to your Dr & see if there is something else you could be doing instead of what you already are. Everyone's situation is different.

    ETA....NZ = jealous : )

    I hate my PCOS. I gained 30 pounds in 4 months out of nowhere a few years ago. I do have a hypothyroidism so I would suggest having yours checked by an endocrinologist. It's so hard to lose weight with both these conditions. I eat only whole foods and work out regularly and it has helped. But my low energy is still ehhh.

    How has metformin been for you?

    I have pcos and it totally sucks . I found a low carb diet and exercise helped with losing weight . I kind of fell of the wagon and gained a lot of weight back . Metformin also helped . I would definitely talk to your doctor and have them run some labs . Keep a journal of what you eat and what your symptoms are .

    I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles. I don't have this but I've started a Keto diet and lots of women on the support sites I'm on talk about how Keto helps with PCOS and blood sugar issues. I'm not sure if that will help you but you may want to look into it.

    It sounds like meal planning and ensuring you are eating something every 3-4 hours would help with the blood sugar crash, and could also help with weight loss. If you are looking for a Registered Dietitian that specializes in meal plans and weddings please feel free to visit my storefront.

    I have low sugar but not PCOS.

    I have learned that diet and timing are huge.

    I eat breakfast around 6:30am (most important meal of the day for anyone with Reactive Hypoglycemia or low sugar).

    I go to work, I eat a snack around 9:30am.

    I eat lunch around noonish.

    I eat another snack around 2:30.

    I eat dinner around 5:30 or 6.

    Snacks are usually something with protein in it like a protein bar.

    I learned if I skipped the snack mid afternoon- my sugar would crash around 4:30 daily.

    I am not a dietitian however, I learned this from try and do.
