Pens and Wooden Guest Books

Paige, on August 24, 2017 at 1:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Hey y'all!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am 44 days away from saying I DO and I feel like there are still a MILLION things to do.

My fiance proposed with a wooden sign (I'll attach a picture. It's a bit blurry, sorry) and we thought it would be the perfect "guest book", since it is already such a big part of our engagement. I'm stuck though, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TYPE PEN/MARKER TO USE!! I've googled and found multiple opinions, but I was hoping one of you ladies have done something similar and could help me out! I'd like something that wont bleed to bad and won't take forever to dry so other people signing won't smear anything.

I think Sharpie may be the way to go, but should I do an oil based Sharpie paint marker? A regular Sharpie? Something entirely different? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance lovely ladies!

-P

These are oil based and you can find them anywhere!

Following! I was going to use a gold sharpie, but I'm afraid it won't show up well so we are thinking silver or black. I did not want a paint pen or anything that can get everywhere easily, so I would use a normal sharpie.

I used a white, silver and black sharpie paint pen for my wooden guest book. Worked beautifully!

Can you put a thin layer of varnish over it first, and then seal it with another coat of varnish after it's signed?

I asked a similar question on here and everyone pointed me in the direction of these:

    https://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Permanent-Paint-Marker-Point/dp/B00N3DCQ9O/ref=sr_1_3?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1503607924&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=paint+fine+point&psc=1

It is a fine tip which is great. I tested it out on the back and it wrote like a charm!
