Pens for guestbook?

Maria, on June 1, 2018 at 3:48 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Seemingly silly question. I really like my guestbook, here's a sample pic from the vendor Please and Thank you Cards on Etsy. What pens did you use for the guestbook? I don't want to use super cheap ones but I'm also mindful that it's highly likely they may be accidentally misplaced at the end of the night. Thanks!

What kind of pages does it have inside? Are you concerned about the ink leaking through the pages? I would maybe take it to a craft shop to see what employees there might recommend.

We bought gel pens for our guestbook, but it's a poster that people will sign.

Good question! I hadn't considered the page thickness. I can ask the etsy vendor. I had it sent to my moms house and I don't want to trouble her with that errand.

I would try the fine point sharpies to see how they hold up.

These little beauties are amazing, sharpie quality, none of the marker bleed through...

I keep trying to add the link, but it's getting all weird - search for sharpie pens! Smiley laugh

My ffil and I were recently admitting our little quirks with pens( and office supplies in general). My all time favorite is the Pentel RSVP. It's a basic ballpoint pen, but I love how smooth it is and the ink is light enough you don't have to worry about smudges or drying time. Also anyone can use this. Any hand hold combined with various types of pressure result in the same great lines.

FFILs gave is the Pilot Precise V5-retractable. I carried this as a work pen for a while but ultimately retired this pen. I found the flow to be excellent. Loved the fine line on paper. It is fantastic to use. Unfortunately I found this pen to be finikey. Too much pressure would effect the flow of ink, and the ink smudged easily.

Wow these are really thoughtful suggestions. I have to admit I wasn't in the know regarding all the nuances of pen, ink, and paper. Lots to explore and think about. Love the feather!!

I was just thinking of this same issue! I was thinking of using Sakura gel pens (since they come in an array of colors and sparkles) but am worried about the archival quality- I don't want to come back 10 years later to the guestbook to find the messages have faded! However, if you find a pen with an ink and pressure you like, but think the pen body is a bit ugly, you can decorate them to fit in with your theme/style. For example, you can cover them with patterned washi tape, or spray them (covering the nib) with an enamel in a color you like. If it's in keeping with your style, you can even find high quality faux flowers and attach them to the back ends using green floral tape- make a little pen bouquet! This may also prevent guests from accidentally walking off with one!

I am guilty of forgetting the pens for my guestbook -the hotel (my venue) supplied their own pens (simple, common pens) and it was just fine! As long as it doesn't smear you're good!

I'll probably do gold or gold and silver sharpies - that's what I've seen the last several times I've been to a wedding.

I got our guestbook from the same seller on Etsy and this is the link she sent me when I asked about pens:
