My periods have been fairly consistent throughout the past year and I checked my period calendar on my cell phone...apparently it's due on my honeymoon. :'( My wedding is May 6th. My OBGYN appointment is this upcoming Monday to start birth control. I plan on doing the pills. It will be my first time ever doing birth control. Will I be able to skip my period for next month if I start the birth control next week? I'm so bummed. Our honeymoon is 10 days, but I'll be on my period for at least 5 of those days. :'( Any advice is appreciated. Feeling super stressed over this.

You should be fine on BC. You shouldn't have your period, and I never had spotting when I started BC.

The pill will change your menstrual cycle and your period date will likely not be your honeymoon. Just count the pills. Period comes on the 4th week of the pack. If it still falls on your honeymoon delay taking the pill so that you can offset the cycle to not honeymoon week. You honestly should have started BC much earlier to account for this and possible side effects.

Do take the pill get the Nuba ring and your period will not show up at all

Thanks for all the advice everyone. The OBGYN suggested, I take the regular birth control pills. Skip the sugar pills and go straight to a new pack. She said at most, I could have spotting. If the spotting is heavy, or if a legit period happens? I should take 2 pills a day for 4 days during my expected period, if needed. That will lessen the bleeding. Spotting is better than a full on period! Yay.

Ok I know you posted this a while ago but I’m searching now for the same answer I thought the same as you . i’m supposed to start on the first day of our honeymoon and our honeymoon is only 5 days . Literally the whole time on my period . And we planned to go to Cabo San Lucas which I planned on being in a bathing suit the whole time . He only gets a week off though it has to be then . How was your wedding and honeymoon ? was your husband annoyed or bothered ever by not being able to have sex . He s not down with that during that time . Really would like to know how yours was? deciding if I should change locations . Thank you so much !!!
