Alright guys, this is my first time posting but I need your help! I'm going to start my period on my honeymoon which would be totally fine for a normal person but I have endometriosis so it's super DUPER painful. (like stay in bed for 2 days painful)

Any suggestions? My wedding is in a month.

I can't do birth control because I'm not into that hormonal craziness (it made me paranoid).

This will also be my first time having sex so does that change things? do you think my period would change because of it. We'll be on a cruise and we can't move the date!

I also have endometriosis, and changing my diet has helped me a lot as well. I don't eat soy or dairy. Unfortunately it's hard to give up dairy because I love it, and soy is in almost everything, but when I eliminated them one by one I saw a huge difference in my pain level and all PMS symptoms. I have prescription IBS medication (I think it's called Bentyl and it's a small blue pill) that helps also. I usually have an IBS attack during the first 2 days of my period so obviously it helps with that, but it actually relieves some of the period cramps too. It's not a pain reliever. It's supposed to relax abdominal cramps/spasms and it does exactly that.

My mom kept asking me how I could get a cycle in between too and I really don't understand hahah

But I have a cycle next weekend and then again starting April 19.

I've done diet changes too.. No dairy, gluten, and I just cut out sugar just recently. I'm going to go for grains and soy next but endometriosis takes a lot of work and time to heal and I don't have that in between now and my wedding. I've read a million times over how people heal it with their diet and that's the plan I just need some help in between Smiley smile I'm going to start doing Pilates too because I don't exercise much!

I'm glad you're getting a second opinion. No doctor should make their patient feel bad. If that's the case, I would recommend finding a new doctor. Personally I see a woman OB/GYN. When I talk about female issues, I want someone that has personal experience with my issues. I know there are a lot of great male doctors, I just prefer to talk to someone that's going through the same thing.

I 2nd the doctor. Losing your virginity on your period will be horrible. If in fact you can't find a resolution, I would explain to FH why waiting a few more days would be better. Not sure how you will enjoy the cruise if you are in pain. TMI: but oral sex (for FH), not sure if you've done it before or not (I assume not, but IDK) might be a good time to consider giving to FH the first couple days of your honeymoon until your period is over. (Not mandatory but an idea)

Yea, I get that I guess. The timing does make sense if you start within this week.

If you go on your honeymoon the 17th then maybe you can have sex for the first time before it all starts on the 19th? Take advantage of those two days with no period. I wouldn't suggest having sex while on your period especially if you both are virgins. It can freak the man out if he isn't used to it. I have horrible period cramps and don't even want my husband to touch me during the first couple days.

I also would suggest taking a heating pad and some good meds. Vicodin is the only thing that works for me.

Good luck! And just remember, you have your whole life to have sex....try to have fun on your honeymoon and don't stress it too much!

@Jacqui722 I'm curious....how does soy worsen it? My doctor recommended I try soy milk so now I'm wondering if that was bad advice lol

Soy acts like estrogen in your body, so if you're low on estrogen (which most American women have way too much) it'll help but if you're not then I'm not sure.. If doctor your recommended it then maybe just ask why Smiley smile

Soy worsened it for me, and it mimics estrogen. I'm actually shocked that a doctor recommended it, but maybe your doctor knows that you have low estrogen?

Has anyone suggested Norethisterone to you? i don't know if it would have the same effect of birth control but my friend took it for her wedding. it delays your period and she had no side effects other than feeling a little bloatySmiley smile

ETA: i think in the US it's called PRIMOLUT N
