Ok so i need to rant because im pissed off! maybe tmi but i stared my period today. . I have an app on my phone call period tracker and i log all my periods when they start and end and symptoms ect.. Well now its estimating that im going to start my period again on aug 27th! My fricken wedding day!! I did start 3 days early then it had predicted but i think it was from stress. But now im super mad. I can't be on my period on my wedding day. Ughh there are so many reasons this will suck. Im wearing white, ill have cramps, my face will be broke out, ill be extra fucking moody, bloated, and it will be real fun to try and change a tampon in a wedding dress. Also icing on the cake no sex on my wedding night.. But anyway anyone else have this problem and anyone have any tricks to having a more enjoyable, symptom free period,,, if thats possible?? Ugh rant over.

Would like to reiterate that you CAN have sex on your period...in the shower or lay down a towel as other ladies have said. It's not the end of the world but just annoying basically haha

Okay gross but I have sex on my period all the time lol. We just lay a towel down and kind of laugh about it together. Another option if you don't want to get all gross, but still want to have sex, is the Softcup! It is a menstrual cup, but it fits you differently than the divacup, and you can actually have sex with it in! FH barely felt it in there, and it was completely mess free. It is slightly intimidating though at first, but I had absolutely no problems with it. Wear a panty liner in your undies if you are worried about leaking! As for PMS symptoms, try to drink a lot of water and reduce your salt intake and eat cleaner foods!

I had my period during my wedding.

    Nothing bad happened.

You know why? Because i'm an adult woman who knows what to do during my period.

    Laine!! Yes!! Another softcup user!!!

I love mine. I will NEVER wear tampons ever again (if I have the choice) because of these things.

@Laine & Yas, all the yes! I've been using Insteads for years. My sister used Diva cup for a bit, but has recently changed to something else (can't remember what). I'll never go back!

Also, FH doesn't even care about having sex during my cycle. I'm all "Is it okay that..." And he's all "DON'T CARE!" as he drops his pants so fast they make a dent in the floor.

I can understand the concern, because in addition to bleeding many periods cause bloating and breakouts (neither of which someone wants on their wedding day!).

I skip periods all the time using BC and have never had an issue unless I go over 3 months without having one. I do know some people experience spotting though.

    Good luck!

My wedding isn't until April and I'm already tracking. I'm on BC, so it's generally dead on. I'm supposed to start sugar pills on my wedding day, which would mean period two days later. I'm consider postponing sugar pills by a week In February. That way I'm not skipping a whole cycle, and my period will start right after the honeymoon. I'm really more concerned with bloating and acne than the actual bleeding.

Portlandia - talk to your doctor - on my pill postponing the sugar pills (meaning taking nothing) will do nothing, your will still get your period without since they are nothing. If you do not start the next pack the following week, you risk ovulation. Which means you could be prego rather than having your period.

I use that app also and it says my first day would start on my wedding day so I went to my doc, asked for bc pills and told her my issue and she said to start taking birth control a week or two before your period should start so the sugar pill "period" you get on bc will be at the opposite end of the month your wedding is. My wedding is in November so I've had some time to shift my period though

Everyone's body is different, and not everyone stops their period when taking BC. So relying on BC to stop your period or make it lighter is almost useless. Plus, it can give you side affects that PMS gives you, or worse. I'm assuming you're an adult woman who has had to deal before, so take some Midol or Tylenol and suck it up.

To avoid wearing tampons and alleviate symptoms, I recommend the Diva Cup, but it takes some adjusting and it's not for everyone. It's a silicone cup that only needs to be dumped in the morning and night. Which app do you use? Clue is probably the best out there, but apps can only predict so much. (My thesis for my master's degree was on period apps.)

@Matt, I wouldn't be able to tell you the next day I'm due and I've been bleeding for 20 years. I've never been regular and at this point my cycle is a few days longer than a month. I can give you an estimate, but not every woman is regular enough to know the date. It's a bit insulting/offensive/whatever to be like "how could you not know?!"

    ETA: Words.

I literally got my period on my wedding day as I was walking out the door to get ready. Just make sure to use a really good skin care regimen the month before so your skin will be less likely to break out and take some midol for cramps. Everything went well and it really didn't have much affect on the big deal. Just don't let it psych you out and get to you!

I have had sex 3 out of the four nights I've been on my period this week. It can be done, and it's rather pleasant. As for your wedding day, wear a tampon and a pad if possible. Someone said they wear white on their period. I'm too lazy to find out what your name is, but my periods are so bad I have to change every hour or so during the first 3 days. I'm physically ill around day 4 because of blood loss. So, I do not wear white. Mine are also extremely unpredictable. Just make sure you have all of the necessary items (tampons, pads, midol) on your wedding day. I wouldn't recommend starting bc because it screws with your body. Makes your emotions weird, and weight gain is very common.

I must be using softcup wrong. It was ok for my period but during sex it was a nightmare. Something straight out of a horror film.

Towels are the way to go.

    I hate these posts.

Do you not know how your body even works? Do you not realize that the period tracking apps generally go on an assumed 28-day cycle, which is rare even for a woman whose cycle is like clockwork? Of COURSE it's going to be off.

I really wish they made women we truly educated about their bodies before they leave high school. Like, how to track ovulation and fertility and menstruation beyond, "Mark it on a calendar!" @_@

Your period is based on ovulation. If you just now started your period, you could get an appointment with your doctor to get something to try to delay ovulation for a few days, so you wouldn't get your period on your wedding day. You would need to get it asap though.

Taking birth control could technically work, BUT you do run the risk of breakthrough bleeding during what would be the placebo week even skipping the placebos and starting a new pack, and you can have spotting through the first few months of starting BC. So in reality, while it sounds great to just skip your period, it doesn't always work that way, and you may bleed anyway.

If it's that big of a deal, go to the doctor and see what they say. Personally, I'm not medicating myself or taking any extra precautions to avoid my period on my wedding day. If it comes, so be it. I'll let the MUA and the photographer deal with any breakouts or whatever. As for sex, it's never been a problem for us before, so I don't see it being one on our wedding night.

I read about a trick (haven't tried it yet myself) that the porn stars do where they use a sea sponge to stop any blood so they can still have sex on their periods and then just take it out right after.

It sucks, but you'll get through. Just try to laugh through the semi-awkwardness of having to pick which lucky bridesmaid gets to help you hold up your dress while you change your tampon/pad.

Or you could just have period sex. Put a towel down or hit it in the shower.

Buzz feed had an interview with a porn star video and the interviewer asked the porn star what she did when on her period. The porn star said she sticks one of those makeup blender things up there.... weird...but I'm assuming the dude involved doesn't feel too much since they're squishy makeup blender thingies.

I second the suggestion for Softcups. They take a bit of practice removing but you can have clean sex with them in while on your period.
