Permit needed for a quick ceremony in Massachusetts?

Chris, on May 17, 2020 at 1:13 PM Posted in Massachusetts Planning 0 1
Sadly our wedding is postponed to 2021. But we still want to get married this year as planned. We like to have a officiant marry us at a park or beach in Massachusetts. Any idea if permits are needed for a quick ceremony and some pictures afterwards? It will just be with our parents and siblings. Anyone doing something similar that can share their timeline or ideas?
Any suggestions of places in the North Shore area I can look up? I did tried to look up some places and permits are required but it sounds like if you are using the place for more than a few hours and have chairs and tents etc. We had a place we had a permit for but that's because we were initially set up for over 50 people, chairs and food.

Hi Chris! I'd look into officiants who do elopement packages! They will be the local expert on beautiful public ceremony sites and what's needed permit-wise!

Gloucester is also gorgeous and has some good permit info here: https://gloucester-ma.gov/318/Wedding-Permits
