Dedicated March 2011

Perona Farms/Crossed Keys Inn

nikg9, on October 28, 2011 at 10:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Has or Is anyone getting married at either of these locations? Looking for some info on the pricing and what it includes. I thought I read on the Crossed Keys that it is $135pp. That seems high. I did read it does not include alcohol. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I had requested information from Crossed Keys Inn (It looks absolutely gorgeous and was the perfect venue I had imagined in my head) however our wedding will not be big enough for them to be able to accomodate it.

The information that she sent me didn't really mention what is included catering-wise but it did include all the extra venue fees. I didn't ask anymore since I knew it wouldn't be possible for us to have it there.

150 guest minimum (165 on Saturdays in Sept./Oct). 135 per person on Saturdays. 130 on Sunday. Plus 7% sales tax and 20% service.

1,800 site fee plus 500 for ceremony

Saturday weddings must book all 5 rooms for Fri/Sat. Sunday weddings must book all 5 rooms for Sunday. (775 per night)

    Valet parking: $550.00

You are correct that no alcohol is provided, but they provide sodas, mixers, and service.

Thanks for the info. That seems like way too much. I am trying to help my cousin and his fiance find their perfect venue. They want a rustic feel. And a NJ location. If anyone has ideas, please let me know! Thanks again!

Perona is beautiful, more wedding-y, if that makes any sense; crossed keys is more rustic/elegant, and it is a total stunner. It is worth every cent.

In NJ, for anything beyond a standard banquet hall, you're going to be looking at over 100.00. Rustic doesn't usually translate to inexpensive...

Try; Ballyowen or any of the Crystal Springs resorts, all in Hamburg/Hardyston

Lake Valhalla Club, in Mountain Lakes (I love this one, and it's on a lake...)

Mill at Spring Lake (on a lake)

Olde Mill Inn, in Basking Ridge

Stockton Inn or the Woolverton Inn, both in Stockton

    The Brick House, in Wyckoff

The Molly Pitcher Inn, in Redbank (I think....)

    The Cranbury Inn in Cranbury

If they really want rustic, Camp Rickabear or Silas Condict Park in Kinnelon, but they both require a caterer (I recommend "The Fruited Plain", who is a member here.)

Celia, THANK YOU so much for all of the info!!!!! Will check them mall out:-) I have been to The Mill in Spring Lake which is pretty nice. It's just tough to afford much over $100pp when you are paying for a wedding yourself. I have certainly been there before when planning my own wedding and we opted for Winter so it was cheaper. And especially when you have over 150ppl. Appreciate the info!

I commented on your original post looking for venues, and I was married at Crossed Keys. The information FutureMrsOhler gave is accurate. Yes, it is not cheap, but like Celia said, it's worth every penny!!!

I wasn't looking for just another banquet hall wedding, I wanted something different. I did a lot of research, and there is NO OTHER venue like this in the area. Every place that has the option to have the ceremony outside then has the reception inside in a banquet hall. At Crossed Keys, everything is outdoors. The reception is under a huge tent, and it is gorgeous! They also have a barn with a pool table, shuffle board, couches, etc. for people to hang out before/after the wedding.

It really depends what your cousin is looking for, but I can tell you that the place is magical, and there is nothing like it around here. I know a few people that were also married there as well as guests that have attended weddings there (not just mine), and they all say the same thing!

The best budget tip ever is to cut that guest list. seriously.....

One thing to add about CK is that even if it rains, the tenting is so well done that it doesn't even matter.....and that barn is amazing; your photographer will love it!

I can also vouch for what Celia said, it rained on our wedding day for several hours, and it did not make one bit of difference!!

The place does seem beautiful!!! it will be tough to cut that list down from the number they have already. might have to cut corners with other vendors but it seems to be exactly what they want! thank you so much for the insight and the experience that you had there. when i saw CK i knew it was perfect for them. we'll see what happens:-)
