Personal Vows

Does anyone have any ideas for an alternative way to share vows during the ceremony? I really wanted my FH and I to write and read our vows aloud during the ceremony but he is pretty adamantly opposed. He is saying it’s too much pressure and that reading his own vows would give him anxiety. Ugh. Soooo I need to come up with a way for us to share our love for each other in a unique and special way that will make us both happy. Any suggestions or things any of you have seen? Thanks!

We worked together to come up with about 4 or 5 one sentence vows. Then our officiant said them with us repeating them.
We still got to personalize, but they were the same for both of us and with repeating as well it didn't feel "too personal"

You could share your personalized vows to each other privately before the ceremony! You could have just you, your fiance, and your officiant present for the personal vows (and maybe photographer/videographer too), and then do "repeat after me" vows during the ceremony.

Most states require some type of vows to be recited at the ceremony in order to be legal. Can you compromise on the personal vows? Send them in a card to each other before the ceremony as opposed to reading them in front of guests. At the ceremony, repeat vows after the officiant that you both feel comfortable with.

My daughter and her now husband did their personal vows holding hands on opposite side of door before the ceremony and then standard vows during the ceremony. Personal Vows 1

Obviously a first look but if you don’t want to see each other before you can do what someone posted about with around a door/corner

We're sharing our private vows during the first look, written in vow books. Then during the ceremony we'll do the traditional "repeat after me" vows.

We’re doing personal vows and I’m afraid I’ll mess up in front of people with nerves but I’m going to do it anyway. We will write our vows on small cards and give them to the officiant during the rehearsal. He’ll have them at the ceremony and will give us the cards to read from when it’s time.

We’re not writing any vows down we’re just goihg to speak from our hearts. I personally hate the rehearsed valves that people read on paper I think it’s so nice when people just speak naturally. So that’s why we’re going that route.

I LOVE this! Also working together on personal "repeat after me" type vows. Otherwise you could either read them during a first look or write them in a letter to one another for before the ceremony.

When we were planning a larger wedding, we were going to share our hand-written vows during our first look time! Then just do standard vows for the ceremony itself.
